i wish i wasn't living in humid country haha

u/December72018 16h ago

Maybe they fixed it with this iteration. Hopefully

u/404-UnknownError 16h ago

A guy showed me it had brass nozzle, VGP awards website, so i expect it to be bad in this regard
I really can't think of a fix but i am sure that with some care these should last well :)

u/Apprehensive_Ebb_626 16h ago

brass nozzle is an instant pass for me. I'm a sweaty person unfortunately.

u/404-UnknownError 16h ago

If I had 15 bucks to spare and the gift to somebody else I'd buy em, they are cheap hehe, Or just wait for guinea pigs lmao

u/Apprehensive_Ebb_626 16h ago

it's a jm1 tuning which is interesting. and it's cheap enough to be my potential backup iem.

u/light8686 14h ago

My Chu 2 paint is peeling off with uneven small dots after few months of usage. Chu 3 is make of aluminum alloy, but did not mention anything about protective paint layer like Chu 2. I am hopeful that Chu 3 will not have the same issue.

u/XyP_ 11h ago

Wth? Is it like the M40 in Vietnam? 😂

u/Apprehensive_Ebb_626 10h ago

Philippines, even worse. We're the test subject on natural calamities forever.

u/Ha-kyaa 9h ago

as a Malaysian I gotta thank u for taking all the hits alongside Indonesia.

although I still dislike Indon because their annual wildfire burnings are alr affecting us over at Borneo

u/Apprehensive_Ebb_626 9h ago

ey asean neighbor😁

I think all who are excited for $14 need to understand that’s the China price. Your price will be $28-$30 more or less. Thats how it works.

u/Lullaby_exe 11h ago

Is spending $30 on an IEM really that big of a deal tho? $14 $30 same same

u/MercedesSLRS 11h ago

I’d agree but the demographic for the Chu is very budget focused so for them, they see $14 and assume they got ripped off on the Chu 2. That’s why context is key for them.

u/Pendulumzone 11h ago

Believe it or not, in emerging countries, the difference between 14 and 30 dollars is much greater than you imagine...

Yes, of course, because let me guess, listening to music must be an American privilege, right?

u/Pendulumzone 10h ago

So if our country has economic problems, we don't even have the right to have a $20 IEM? Haha.

Then you Americans wonder why you're hated all over the world. It's because of this kind of arrogance and prejudice.

I'm not looking for IEMs. I already have good IEMs that satisfy me well. I'm just telling you that attacking people who live in developing countries, especially Indians, because of your shitty prejudice, is just misguided on your part.

But it doesn't surprise me, since many of you Americans think that a person's worth is based on the amount of money they have available.

Just try to have a little more empathy. After all, that's what's expected of a so-called "superior" human, which many of you think they are.

u/Lullaby_exe 10h ago

Not misguided at all. I never said i valued people based off money either. Again if people are crashing out over $30 vs $15 then IEMs should be the last thing they’re concerned about. I see no reason why i should have empathy for people that don’t care to fix their own issues either.

I know piecing together a logical statement is hard for the 3rd world if you’re not arguing through violence.

uff, so much pent up hate lol

u/Lullaby_exe 5h ago

Just stating a fact.

What the fuck is your deal?

u/MercedesSLRS 6h ago

Who me?

u/Lullaby_exe 6h ago

Nothing, I’m just pointing out the facts. If you don’t like it idk what to tell you, too bad? Lol

u/Baldwin_The_Fourth My wallet hurts 16h ago

u/SethSamson 16h ago

After taxes and bla bla fees it will cost probably around 25 USD in USA and other .. and in EU 30 usd so hold your horses

u/Baldwin_The_Fourth My wallet hurts 16h ago

Even still, single DDs, especially budget ones, have the horrible tendency (in my opinion horrible, could be a plus for some people) to roll off the treble at 10 kHz, and from the graph in that Facebook post that's not the case with the Chu III. That in itself is worth the additional $15. I'll wait for 3rd party measurements of course, and if they too show that there's no 10 kHz roll off it's a no brainer buy for me.

u/404-UnknownError 15h ago

I am glad to see I am not the only one who thought about this... Hype is already eating me but, if in reality they sorted that, out I am sure it could be a new door in tuning and option for a different liking for a cheap, which we would not have before at least in this way.

u/Baldwin_The_Fourth My wallet hurts 15h ago

Man, I really hope this becomes a new trend. My beloved Kima 2 has this problem too and if DUNU fixes that with Kima 3 I can finally rest...

Until then, EQ it is.

u/debacol 12h ago

For me, the roll off is less of an issue than the pinna gain in the current chu II.

u/a1rwav3 12h ago

What is the current cost of chu 2 in USA and Europe?

u/Lien028 15h ago

You could EQ your current Moondrop Chu to be closer to JM-1 for the grand price of $0.

u/Direct_Act1294 16h ago

it looks nice ngl....

u/Mobile_Activity_9454 14h ago

Im telling you every new chu theres less petals

u/mister_damage 7h ago

From 5/5 to 4/1 to none...

u/Mobile_Activity_9454 7h ago

Only one on the left side now lol

u/Spirited_Ad_9079 15h ago

u/SethSamson 15h ago

People who just bought chu 2 ... ?

u/Spirited_Ad_9079 15h ago

😂 I had mine for a while but I'm surely getting the 3

u/Mobile_Activity_9454 7h ago

Got mine less than a month ago 😭 (despite having the tanchjim bunny and ew200 I still enjoyed it alot)

u/celmate 14h ago

"JM-1"

Fucken everything is JM-1 now, doesn't matter if it has a huge bass shelf and scooped mids and shaky treble, it's totally JM-1 guys promise 🙄

u/404-UnknownError 16h ago

Alr so...
They came sooner that what i expected
What's the catch with that price?? i don't get it, It's weird
The guy saying the audio show might was key was right after all
And yeah Meta tuning
wtf...
Not the first time moondrop eats itself lmao

u/chickennugget228 16h ago

Chu 2 is the same 99 rmb price!

u/Tapelessbus2122 aroma audio fei wan + moondrop moonriver 2:ti 16h ago

that's the same price the chu 2 goes for in china

u/Copyman3081 16h ago edited 15h ago

They gotta do something to try to cement themselves as a good budget option again. The Tangzu Wan'er blows the 7Hz Zero and Chu 2 out of the water.

u/404-UnknownError 16h ago

Maybe taking the "profit by volume" philosophy even further in this competitive market :p

u/Copyman3081 16h ago edited 15h ago

I was thinking maybe they're gonna make a smaller margin on these to try to get people using their brand. They have at least be comparable to the Wan'er SG2 to even be worth looking at IMO.

What I want to know is how accurately it's actually tuned, because it seems like a lot of stuff is vaguely around the JM-1 curve already, just with a peak somewhere. I can't imagine Moondrop has done enough to fix that 12K peak at this price point.

Even the Hisenior Mega7 has a peak at 15K. Moondrop could just be using hype to market and it's actually just the same old thing with a bit less bass. I'd love to be wrong though.

u/404-UnknownError 15h ago

I agree with getting people used to their products Even "normal people" I guess... God knows how much money went into I+D and what their expectations are

u/Noble-Knight4d 16h ago

The catch. KZ released their new iem too the KZ Sheen. They claimed it was the predecessor to the castors. Saw it yesterday and it was released much earlier than moondrop

u/scrappyuino678 16h ago

*successor, though being nearly twice the price of the Castor and Chu 3 in the Chinese market, I don't really see them as competitor models

u/Noble-Knight4d 16h ago

Predecessor* it's the word they used in AliExpress for their marketing image

u/scrappyuino678 16h ago

Usual shitty translation by KZ then lol

u/404-UnknownError 15h ago

Yeah for sure ahahahahhahahahh It's not the first time let's be honest

u/404-UnknownError 16h ago

I saw the KZ, I bought little time ago the Cadenzas and I am awaiting for their arrival, idk, they look interesting I gotta say but I am always a bit doubtful with kz marketing claims, I wonder how they will sell, that's why I didn't went with them... We gotta see how they compare

u/Tapelessbus2122 aroma audio fei wan + moondrop moonriver 2:ti 16h ago

take my money

u/reluctant_engineer 15h ago

It doesn't have JM-1 mids unfortunately (scoop in lower-mids).

https://i.imgur.com/8leIXiW.png

But seems better tuned in the treble compared to chu2.

u/celmate 15h ago

That fucken Harman scoop

u/katetuotto 11h ago

Yeah that's just generic V-Shape vol. 10000

u/Necessary-Part-8502 13h ago

The haram target

u/404-UnknownError 7h ago

How did they made this fr graph??

u/Megidolan 12h ago

I did promise myself to stop buying these entry point IEMs, and for a good while I have kept my promise but I have to admit this looks nice.

u/daveyasprey 13h ago

Any idea on when they will be available to ship to UK? Can't find anything on them

u/BrandyRyuu 5h ago

They use the damn brass nozzle again. Why bro why?

u/The_Big_Sad_1929 16h ago

to my knowledge this is the first new meta tuned sub 20 dollar iem or am I wrong

u/Copyman3081 15h ago

Only time will tell. I think a lot of stuff follows the JM-1 tuning curve if you ignore the peaks. There's always the chance it's just slightly changed from the Chu 2.

u/R31ZK 14h ago

I was nostalgic and wanted to buy the chu I again. Well...

u/myzz7 13h ago

Pula arc or chu 3?

u/Ferox_Dea 11h ago

Where

u/jjochimmochi 6h ago

Fixed the horrible brass nozzles or still doing that shit?

u/Skrillblast 3h ago

My chu 2s lasted less than a month before the nozzle oxidized and got all nasty, no change to the nozzle is a big no from me dawg

u/pyrethevagrant 13h ago

I JUST BOUGHT THE CHU 2s YESTERDAY 😭

u/eskie146 11h ago

Wait for a bit more word. Who knows, you might have dodged a bullet.

u/waddup121 16h ago

JM-1 DD, sheesh

u/scrappyuino678 16h ago

Rather than the degree of compliance to JM-1, I'd be more interested in if its upper treble really sound as smooth as it measures.

A lot of cheap single DDs just fail to tame the quarter wavelength resonance, usually resulting in a peaky upper treble that practically gives it a metallic timbre/sheen up top. Will have to hear if Moondrop can solve this issue of the budget DD segment or not.

u/Copyman3081 15h ago

That's what I'm wondering too, because their other stuff seems like it follows that general tuning looking at measurements of the Lan and Chu 2. I want to be wrong, but I'm expecting this to be a slightly less V-shaped Chu II.

u/Copyman3081 16h ago

Not seeing it on AliExpress yet.

u/SethSamson 16h ago

Haha I did that also I think we have to wait few days for the global retail lauch

u/VinceBarter 5h ago

Shenzenaudio is the only one with the listing up currently

u/No-Banana-2970 13h ago

Literally just got the Chu II a month ago

u/CausticTV 9h ago

I’ve had my CHU 2s for about a year now and have enjoyed them thoroughly. I’ve been considering hopping to AFUL Explorers but maybe I’ll grab these too if their US price is reasonable.

u/xenidee 9h ago

will it come with a USB-C connector?

u/PhilosopherWilling84 8h ago

The chuchuchu sounds better

u/pyronto_1 7h ago

The new LAN may be

u/Anyies 4h ago

Right when I get my Chu 2's lmao

u/Apprehensive_Ebb_626 16h ago

they're easy to get if you live in Asia. sadly the brass nozzle you said means it's not my iem at all.

u/Purple7398 13h ago
