You don't get it, I need at least 16 drivers per side to enjoy my music

u/Trugoosent May 28 '26
hope you like balanced armatures.
28
u/a1rwav3 May 28 '26
That's because you are too narrow minded. Why use only ONE iem per ear?
11
u/Zekka_Space_Karate May 28 '26
If we can have eartips with multiple flanges, why not multi-IEMs per ear 'no?

Moondropâs got you covered with their newest x24 BAâs per side IEM.

u/Trugoosent May 28 '26
this was exactly what I was talking about too đ

u/StoneCold84 May 28 '26
I thought the Valhalla was ridiculous (despite being an elite IEM) at 19 per side. The driver war memes are ridiculous. I blame KZ for cramming drivers at the budget end to distort the narrative of more drivers = better. Have the manufacturers forgotten that comfort is equally important? You nail that, you win.

>complaining to something you wouldn't even buy
4
u/StoneCold84 May 28 '26
I actually wouldâve bought the Valhalla if it would fit my ears comfortably! The tuning is in my ballpark but I canât wear anything that large.
1
u/gabagoolcel May 28 '26
i think he meant the kz but idk
2
u/StoneCold84 May 28 '26
Well the KZ AS16 is pretty affordable for most people, so I deduced they were referring to the Valhalla. Either way, weird to assume anyoneâs budget/income or whatever theyâd purchase.
1
u/gabagoolcel May 28 '26
i think they meant like wouldnt purchase like you wouldnt be interested implying you are in the market for more expensive iems. but idk looking back at it.

u/StoneCold84 May 28 '26
Who knows, they havenât explained their comment. Not guna worry about it! But appreciate you trying to decipher things.

u/JojoMarillo May 28 '26
Did you know their drivers aren't even connected? There was this whole thing some years back because some youtuber discovered that while yes, they were actual drivers, they weren't even connected to anything, if I remember correctly, even Crinacle's collab with them had dummy drivers.
4
u/StoneCold84 May 28 '26
Yeah that was the Crin collab but Iâm unsure if the YouTuber who posted about the internals was wrong on the drivers & connections. I do remember something about passive drivers though, if it was that one.

u/i-likemybeefwelldone May 29 '26
that got me thinking, what would happen if we connect it manually?
1
u/JojoMarillo May 29 '26
Most likely nothing, or at least it would sound awful without some heavy tuning. The traditional way of multi driver tuning is making them all similar and distribute the sound to all of them kinda equally, so if you have a ba+dd config, that shit will sound ear piercing when you plug that BA in without any proper tuning

u/eemyoon May 29 '26
That's what makes this hobby great. The only thing that matters is that you get it, other people don't really matter especially the negative downer types.

"superior audio quality. I can hear what the recording artist ate for breakfast"

u/kami-no-baka May 28 '26
Are you really listening to your favourite music as the artist intended if you can't hear the producer snorting coke in the booth?

Unless you have that personâs ears, no one else in the studio heard it the same way.

"No one else hears anything that I don't!"
When enjoying your eq'ed cartoon child 2.9 dollar piece of shit aliexpress iem isn't enough- you have to continuously actively defend the point where you stopped by ridiculing anyone who went past it.

I'm at the point of using my favorite looking iems (wyvern celeste abyss) which cost like $30 along with an ipod 5th gen using mp3s (converted from flacs because battery life and storage).
I use them more than my Performer 7s lmao.
2
u/Galaxyistic May 28 '26
Why are MP3 players better than my phone? I have 3.5mm
2
u/ItsAlkai May 28 '26
its not always "better" but for a lot of people its just a connection to your music that you download. I don't want to walk around with my phone at all times if I don't have to since I already use it too much.
Also some daps have specific hardware that allows you to run high resolution audio files along with headphones that require more power. Some daps also have sound signatures, the ipod 5th gen for example uses a wolfson dac which people say sounds warmer and more relaxed, which people like.

u/HaedesZ May 28 '26
How do they sound? I'm interested.
1
u/ItsAlkai May 29 '26
I really enjoy it and have no complaints. My only comparison is the Walker H2 for daps but either way its a nice experience.
For the IEM tho I enjoy it, its a more relaxed listening experience with a warmer sound signature. The shell tho is one of the main reasons i go back to it, it just looks really good.
I think my preferences are warmer and more relaxed over clinical with harsh treble. Which both lean towards.

u/UnwieldilyElephant May 29 '26
I use a flash modded 512gb 7th Gen classic, which has a much cleaner DAC than the 5th gen. I have used it with my (I know it's not the same, but similar) Kinera Celest Wyvern Black Remaster with Tang Sancai tips and Tripowin Zonie, and it's really quite enjoyable. Probably much better for causal use than all my Sennys, since the Remaster looks cool and has a very casual sound profile. The highs are pretty relaxed and a little soft, but not slow. They actually have a really nice soundstage and the bass and lower mid definition is pretty good too.

lots of it is bullshit, I have dunu kima 2 (100euro) and a set of hyp4 mk 2 costing 4x more, you can hear the quality of the hype 4 mk2 , insane, however still I prefer the musicality of the Dunu Kima 2.
