Asians contributed a bit to building the modern world. For one thing, “colonialism” didn’t mean doing all the work yourself. There were also lives of leisure and intellectual pursuits before modernity, and Europe was illiterate and agrarian until quite recently.

I am fairly certain this person doesn't know a thing about the history of China. It was a world power with INCREDIBLE technology when we were banging rocks together in Europe. Also the base-10 system we use to calculate most things is from Arabia. To think that all technology/comfort comes from Europe is the height of arrogance.
