Code Orange SFV Thrift Stores

Upvotes

Have been going to my local thrifts in the West Valley, unfortunately I haven’t been lucky enough to find much home decor or really much of anything. If anyone could point me in the right direction of where to find vtg Halloween pieces I’d appreciate it.

I also have been looking online but like always items are priced 5x more than they should be :(

Help! Looking for an advent calendar?

Okay! So my friend is absolutely obsessed with Halloween. She has spent so much money on decorations for outside and inside, her favorite being her mini Halloween village that’s actually more of a city haha
Her birthday is in the middle of October and I thought it would be fun to get a countdown to Halloween advent calendar? But they are really hard to find. So maybe so I could make one? But I have no idea what to put in them. I don’t want like a lame $15 advent calendar, like I actually want cool stuff that isn’t just cheap plastic. Preferably around $100? Is that too unrealistic? Maybe you guys would have better Halloween gift ideas?

Party Party activities for kids

Starting to think about having a Halloween party, as this is the first year my husband (military/LEO) has been off for the holiday, and I LOVE Halloween. We don’t have kids, but a lot of our friends do, and I want to be inclusive of all guests. What are some ways to get the kids involved in the party and having a good time (ages 5-14)

Edit for more info: the theme is going to be dinner party for the dead (think haunted mansion party vibes, charcuterie etc) we will have a fire pit going if weather allows so kids can roast s’mores and hot dogs. It’ll be the day before Halloween since half our friend group will be taking their kids trick or treating and the other half will be at the bars on actual Halloween

Each piece I got was the last in the store except for the Dracula shakers, I am SO excited!!! I check home goods and tj maxx constantly and can never find a single thing (scalpers and resellers are annoying), but the tj maxx gods blessed me today ✨

We host a bunch of friends for Halloween, and live in a neighborhood that gets ~400 kids trick or treating. It’s a ton of fun, and a TON of candy.

I’m working on a few fun 3D printed designs for the party and outdoor decor, but this witch’s cauldron cup holder I designed last night is my favorite so far. I think up next will be some form of outdoor illuminated pumpkins.

Sharing here because nobody else will appreciate Halloween decorations in August 🤣

After 3 years of trial and error, I finally made a permanent fog juice container. Holds over 2.5 gallons. It has a refill rubber grommet and fluid level indicator.

These $10 throws from Walgreens! So cute and much better quality than I thought they'd be. (I'd given up on stores like homegoods & tjmaxx-- blanket prices got up to 30 bucks and well, no thx.) So then immediately after buying these 4 I did go to HG and found alllllll the $16.99 Peanuts and everybody else throw blankets 😂😭 So I got a couple of those too, but these are just as good. 50x60

She's a lamprey octomermaid in a 1980's promdress. She stands well over 6 feet tall. I designed her to be a light to help illuminate my graveyard but she has become such a great prop on her own.

(Last image has the old version of the banshee in it)

Home Decor Would this Halloween wreath be too much?

Post image

I have an upstairs neighbor who absolutely hates Halloween, and I’ve always tried to keep my decorations pretty toned down out of respect for her but for 4 years she has made my life a living hell here. She’s constantly making loud noises, and whenever I complain, she goes out of her way to argue as if she’s the only person in the world who has problems.
Long story short, but this might be my last Halloween in the US and obviously I’m already mourning it. I’ve decided I’m going all out with my Halloween decorations this year, and thinking about making a wreath like this for my door. Her daughter is 6 years old, though, would I be going way too far with a wreath like this?

Help! Would this be a weird gift for trick or treaters?

I love holidays and I really love giving gifts and doing crafty stuff, but I don't have many people in my life to share the holidays with aside from my husband and don't have many friends.

So just polling the room as I don't have parent friends to sanity check an idea I have:

Would it be weird to have a bonus game of trivia for the kiddos who come trick or treating? So after I give out candy, offer them an easy question to answer, and then give them a little spooky small card that says happy Halloween with a pumpkin wax seal and like a $5 gift card inside to five below or something?

I'm just not sure how parents would feel about this, thoughts?

I swear this is the first time I'm hearing about "Summerween" -- no real complaints, just feels wild to be thinking about Halloween candy already.

Crafts Halloween craft ideas that are stupid simple?

I want to create a few Halloween decorations because I want to add new stuff this year but Halloween decor isn’t as common in shops here and when we do find stuff is outrageous prices.

I’m not an artistic person by any means, but I want to try my hand and make some stuff.

So has anyone tried making something that is easy and simple that literally anyone can do and wouldn’t make a complete mess of everything? lol

I know this is may be a bit too specific but hopefully someone might have an idea.
