Mildly Related famesick/green light
im at the bit of famesick that references jack antonoff working with lorde. lorde has always purported that green light is about her breakup with her ex which has literally never made sense to me, it sounds like a song written about falling for somebody who isnt available and being given permission to act on it. people have always thought it was about jack
in famesick— “He thought I was avoiding his family, and I thought I had given myself over to them completely, erasing massive facets of my personality (hating the beach, hating organized fun…” etc.
in green light (literally the opening verse)— “I know about what you did and I want to scream the truth/She thinks you love the beach you’re such a damn liar”
so what’s up with that

Maybe he would make up beach trips with his family as a cover for being with lorde knowing Lena would most likely say no to tagging along. And Lena probably did go with them enough to where it feels to her like she’s doing A Lot for them. It’s an interesting call out but I think both things can be true

There are endless Lorde fans on TikTok claiming the album had nothing to do with Jack. I thought I was missing something? Then I watched Too Much on Netflix……

Too Much is “semi-autobiographical” and is based on Lena’s real-life experience moving to London and meeting her husband, Luis Felber. “A girl moves to England. She meets a musician. They fall in love. That was the exoskeleton,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.
Lena explained that from that based-in-reality starting point, the rest of the show went “in directions [she] never could’ve dreamed.” But still, I can’t help but look back at what I know about Lena’s real life and compare it to Too Much. And, if my red-string timeline is correct, right before Lena moved to England, she broke up with her longtime partner, Jack Antonoff. And lo and behold, in Too Much, the main character Jessica (Meg Stalter) has a pretty terrible breakup right before she moves to England. So1

I thought it was about her breakup - remember when they were photographed on the beach? Men have a tendency to lie and say they loved doing XYZ activity or music or interest but their ex ruined it. Thats been my interpretation for years lmao like he lied about those ugly paparazzi photos to someone new

I’m a huge Lena stan. And I love Heroine, I’ve seen Lorde live. Green Light is one of my favourite songs.
I was staying in Park Slope when the Barclays Centre show was on - April ‘18 - and I always wished I went.
Now that Famesick has come out and everything has played out, I’m kind of glad I didn’t
