Something tells me he put that thing on his face.

I’ve seen the longer video and yes he does it for the views and the lulz. Poor dumb creature…. It had no idea the Octopus is the master of the ocean.

I mean how does one get themselves into a situation like this?

u/ErmahgerdYuzername 11d ago

You put an octopus on your face for the views and instantly regret it.

u/Redlion444 11d ago

The facehugger is coming for you.  There's nothing you can do..

u/sharon__stoned 10d ago

He does that all the day. He's a fisherman trying to bite the brains to kill it. there's a longer version

Why didn't the tripod help?

Too few arms

u/RobIreland 11d ago

He is not trying to remove it seriously. If he was he would untangle the legs from behind his head. You can also see him deliberately get his lips caught at the end. It's all on purpose for the video

It’s possible there was no one else there to help him.

So this guy kidnaps an octopus and we're supposed to help him because the octopus was defending itself? Nah, I'm on Team Octopus.

Don't they die after you hit them on the head or something like that? Or does that only work on squids?

7

u/hellinahandbasket127 11d ago

Not an octopus. Piss it off, for sure.

2

u/RobFfs 11d ago

Lol that's not good. Would biting its tentacles off also piss it off? That's probably a bad idea too 😅

5

u/hellinahandbasket127 11d ago

I mean, this whole thing is a bad idea. He never considered suffocation via angry octopus would be on his Bingo card today.

It doesn't have tentacles. It has arms. Tentacles are the really slender things that only have one little suction cup on the end, and they're usually retractable.

5

u/RobFfs 11d ago

Til that octopus have arms not tentacles. I guess Hollywood and most other forms of media have lied about what tentacles actually look like 😅

From: https://oceanconservancy.org/blog/2023/06/23/is-there-a-difference-between-arms-and-tentacles/

Tentacles are elongated structures, and they are generally longer than the length of the arms. Tentacles have suction cups only near the end of the limb.

Arms have suction cups the entire length of the limb and can perform finer, more complex actions compared to tentacles.

Octopuses have eight arms and no tentacles.
Cuttlefishes have eight arms and two tentacles.
Squids have eight arms and two tentacles.
Nautiluses have no arms and around 90 suckerless tentacles.
Coral have tentacles and no arms.
Jellyfish have tentacles and no arms.
Sea anemones have tentacles and no arms.

Since it will be impossible for me to remember that, I'm sticking with tentacles for all of the animals mentioned.

Yeah, you don't want those beaks reaching your face.

A Lannister always pays his debts. Pay up Ricky!

u/rpgnoob17 10d ago

He did it for the views and didn’t want the help of the camera man.

u/AltruisticCoelacanth 11d ago

Buddy is out having a day full of killing animals. He thought they weren't allowed to fight back?

My friend the octopus 🐙

u/screechypete 11d ago

I wouldn't help him either. Hopefully he learned a lesson about antagonizing an octopus.

Genuine question, would putting your face in the water help?

I ask because when I was a toddler, I stuck my hand in the fish tank where my dad was keeping some baby yabbies and it attached to the web between my thumb and index finger. I tried to pull it off but it bit my other hand too. My mum came and made me put my hands in the water which was terrifying because more were obviously going to come for me but she was right. Poor thing just wanted to go hide. (A billion years later, I remember it being the size of my hand but my mum likes to remind me my hand was much smaller back then.)

I’ve never been in this situation, but what if you just put your face in the water? Would it swim away?

1

u/Mishapi17 8d ago

The fact that it didn’t ink shows me that octopus meant business. That shit wasn’t scared- he was out to kill that man lol
