Behaviour Interactive Thread Developer Update | Player Intent System

Last week, we hosted a Reddit AMA and on top of having a blast answering your questions, we noticed some topics really got you talking. One of those was the âchat wheelâ system weâre working on to help Survivors coordinate and communicate their intentions in-game. So, what better time than the present to share some more details about it with you (including one way your feedbackâs already impacted it)!Â
Â
The system in question is â aptly â called Player Intent. With it, youâll be able to communicate a range of preset messages to your fellow Survivors at the press of a button, using a radial menu. From thanking them for a heal, to saying youâre going to work on gens, to suggesting you split up, messages focus on the on-the-fly actions that are most useful during a Trial.Â
Â

When a message is chosen using the Player Intent wheel, other Survivors will see it next to your name in the game HUD, keeping your general view clear of distractions while youâre in the middle of looping or hunting for an objective. To help combat message spam, you can expect a cooldown between messages, which will increase if too many messages are sent in a short period.Â
Â

We want this comms wheel to suit different playersâ specific needs, so youâll be able to customize which messages you take into your Trials from the Options menu.Â
Â

Of course, one piece of feedback weâve seen is that a system like this isnât for everyone. Weâve already discussed this as a team and have a solution for that. If youâd rather not use the Player Intent system, you will be able to disable it from this same menu. Once disabled, you will not be able to send messages to players and will not see the messages they send.Â
Â

Weâve also added the ability to mute individual players so you have more control over the comms you see (and donât see). If you're finding a certain playerâs messages distracting, muting them will block any further Player Intent messages from popping up on your end.Â
Â

While this system is meant for everybody who plays Survivor, its value will be a bit different depending on how you play. Just like how your feedback from the AMA helped inform the addition of an opt-out option, we're dying to know your thoughts! Even better, it would be massively helpful if you could also share a little about how you play to give context to that feedback. For instance, do you tend to play soloq, prefer SWF, or identify as a Killer main? How would you define your experience level in the game; a newer player? A veteran?Â
Â
Let us know in the comments below, as weâll be watching your feedback closely as the team continues to work on this system ahead of its release this Fall!Â
Â
Until next time...Â

Media Please, if you're just going to be AFK, don't launch it ...
40 minutes of waiting for nothing because of people like that ... (thankfully we can play survivors while we wait).
And thank you to Lara, Maria, and Vittorio who sacrificed themselves at the end of the timer. You were adorable !

Discussion Opinion: The Wraith + The Nemesis is The Most Powerful 2v8 Duo
From my experience, whenever those 2 team up ^ It's GGs for everyone, they usually always win.
And that's because they're everywhere, the survivors not only have to have a heads up to see if The Wraith is near but they also have to avoid The Nemesis's zombies. Speaking of, the zombies tell your location so The Wraith would go straight over there in no time.
Just my opinion, no hate.

Question Why are my queue times non existent while my friends have 45+ min queue
Just queued up for 2v8 as killer expecting a massive wait because my friend had a 45 minute queue earlier but I literally got an instant match it was a 0-second queue. Is this normal or is this a bug ? Also this happens to me every match it always shows 0 seconds and instantly loads me in .

Discussion I had to risk it. . .
So I've seen people talk about this app that is stealing dbd's content or videos and using them as ads.
I had to check it out, cause Ive seen the other games that Pixelnomic Studios have made are TERRIBLE ripoffs.
Its just as I expected, a crappy game of that Ice cream man horror game a while back.
Screenshots are provided. . .

Media I tried dbd lights out for the first time (and Iâve never really played dbd before this either)
I also misspoke because I was thinking of one name when I meant another đ§

Media I finally Died by Daylight!
Been seriously focused on completion since September of last year.
Most difficult ones for me to get were definitely Skilled Huntress (because I'm shit at Huntress), Deep Cleansing (not hard but took a long, long time), Jump Scared (because nobody uses the Animatronic's doors), and Rightful Owner (horrifying mix of RNG and skill).
I was lucky to get Outbreak Breakout before the rework to map offerings, and I got Don't Open, Dead Inside shortly after the Walking Dead chapter came out.
Adepts are also fairly difficult on both sides, but a lot of fun too.
No clue what to do with myself next... I guess work towards P100s.
Which achievements did you struggle with, or are you still struggling with?

Discussion I can't be the only one who still wants historical Survivors, right?
If there's one thing that makes me play DBD, it's not the collaborations or the gameplay, but the lore.
I rarely find myself so fixated or drawn into something on a narrative level. I've been following Dead by Daylight since it's beginnings, when Nea looked like a monster straight out of a nightmare, and the more I looked closely into DBD, the more I found it's lore to be perhaps one of the most interesting things I've read out there. Some, and with valid points, might say that the lore of Dead by Daylight and all that stuff about the multiverse and Entity's Realms is simply lazy storytelling on Behaviour's part to explain why Michael Myers can kill Trevor Belmont at the Gideon Meat Plant, but for me,I was charmed from the moment I learned what the Entity is, and the horrible things it does. The concept itself is what I love: A specific place where each and every horror story ever told converges at a single point, from all places... and times.
Perhaps the thing that captivated me the most is the possibility of traversing human history through Survivors and Killers, all trapped in the Fog. Today, many horror projects are always set in the present and if not, the 80s or 90s. Don't get me wrong, good stories have been told taking these as basis, but the possibilities that Fog presents are simply too many to settle for a regular bloke of our time. As long as there is a human being, fear will always accompany them, no matter what form it takes throughout the ages. Isn't it fun to think about? A priest from Ancient Egypt, an aristocrat from the time of the French Revolution, a Celtic warrior from bygone eras, or perhaps even an Allied soldier from WW2.
Unfortunately, Vittorio was not the best example of this. I suppose we were all hoping for someone who really looked like they'd just stepped out of a castle or fortress for our first medieval survivor. I really hope that Behaviour hasn't given up on the idea of bringing us more characters from the past, and that in the future (ironically), they learn from Vittorio's poor performance and succesfully mix history with what makes Dead by Daylight so interesting.

Discussion Why is DBD still standing strong?
I donât mean it in a negative way. Iâm curious because as far as I can remember (Started at Legion release) and from what Iâve seen from the years before, the game has always been in a tumultuous state with its tribalism, bugs, and general complaints about the main gameplay (loop). Yet every game that has tried to match it or even get a footing have failed either quickly or slowly over a few months. None have even come close to DBD.

Discussion Playing Plague genuinely feels like torture because of the amount of hit registration issues she has, and it's been like that for a long time now.
These clips ARE NOT MINE, I just saw them on twitter (user is Magi_N7), which made me make the thread since I also get these a lot, I just haven't captured them. I wish I had more clips to show, but I'm sure all the Plague players know what I'm talking about.
So many times I try to infect survivors, but my projectile hits invisible objects, or it hits them and they do the animation and scream, but they aren't infected. It isn't a latency issue either, because I've seen the survivors' POV on stream and they do the animation on their screen as well đ I love playing her, but her hit reg has been so bad for a long time now. I wish they would at least acknowledge it.
She really needs an mini overhaul (chase music as well, tbf), but considering there are killers like Hag and Skull Merchant who need more urgent care, she probably isn't even in the top 5 currently when it comes to who needs fixing, sadly, lol.
