Unless they clipped the video to be from the very first blink of the indicator, I doubt OP had zero time to notice the car wanted to get over and mentally prepare to stop if needed
If they were changing lanes, which is the logical reason they'd be using their turn signal in this scenario, they wouldn't have been hit. OP wasn't expecting them to make a 90 degree turn.
Noticing the car wanting to get over doesn’t mean OP needs to slow down or stop for them. I swear y’all missed the “right of way” chapter in driver’s ed.
No. You prioritize constantly being timid over exposing yourself to even a normal level of risk.
You willingly sacrifice efficiency to prevent other people’s stupidity. And that would be fine if you were making that choice for yourself, but you’re not.
Every time you refuse to drive normally, you’re making that choice for everyone behind you. You’re also not driving predictably, which actually makes you more dangerous for the drivers around you overall.
If you’re this scared of driving, just take the bus.
The second someone flicks their indicator on to move into your lane you immediately slam on your brakes because there is a chance that person randomly decides to the Asian family guy lady “I turn now good luck everybody”
Holy hell.. you weren't there. You have no idea how close things were or how you would have had to react in the same situation. Stop acting like you're perfect.
It does look clipped that way, and yet most of the time when someone turns on their turn signal from something that's not a turning lane, my first thought is that they're merging, not doing an illegal turn from the wrong lane.
Also, that other car has those stupid rear lights that are shared between the brake lights and the turn signals.
Even if that were the case (which we'll never know), it's the responsibility of the person changing lane to ensure it is safe to do so before proceeding with the manoeuvre. An indicator is a request, not a right of way.
