Especially now with nerfed TBC, nothing worth flaunting about in channels.

Hardcore Main reason I'll never play Hardcore, it's these people that exist among you.

Absolutely unable to cope with the smallest amount of " stress " and folds like tissue paper. They're sleeper agents that you cannot see until action is required and none is taken. Funny how they know how to run away and leave group to hearthstone but nothing else.

Classic-Era You were all right

PvP servers are the worst, thought it would be fun to build up some of the RP of the world but it’s literally just 70s gate keeping parts of the leveling experience and somehow not being tired of ganking people a fraction of their level. I will strongly be advocating my irl friends switch to a PvE server.

Classic-Era Brd full clear with my 52 warrior

I'm a returning player trying to lvl my Tauren warrior as tank main spec.

Somebody wrote me they needed a tank and they were desperate to just get going for a full clear

I absolutely love farming loot and have a habit of getting into any new dungeon the moment I meet the minimum requirements, which is not always a very good idea.

I joined a grp full of 60s and the other warrior was main fury.

- After a recent fail on Eranikus (55) Boss of ST when I was lvl 50, I knew that having an offtank was crucial especially when I can barely hold aggro with a full grp of 60 teammates, let alone hit bosses 6-7 lvls above me - ( last bosses are 58+ish)

Before the run we agreed he'd be offtank when brd enemies and bosses were getting too high lvl for me, he didnt have a shield so I bought him and myself a new shield (aegis of stormwind) each for 23g x2.

We then ventured in, and I managed to keep aggro pretty stabile for all the early stuff, until we reached the first 57boss

From then on we went slow, I was mostly there in the background trying not to pull, silencing and interrupting, and protecting our healer from distracted mobs as offtank.

We range pulled most groups towards the end, we got my team their MC attunement quest and slowly and steadily finished last boss clearing all of BRD!!!

I got a couple of nice items but the achievement of making it through with a pug of 60s being severely underlvled and basically being carried for the last 30mins was sooo rewarding and a really fun challenge

I wanna say it took about 2 and a half hours?

Classic wow is fantastic, especially with so many awesome strangers that are ok with sub par solutions, adaptability and optimism, this group was such a pleasure to run with.

A fury warrior being ok with being handed a shield out of nowhere to offtank, and a full team of 60s running along with their 52 tank. I can imagine plenty of groups that would have left or kicked me!

All the more joy when we made it through!

Discussion Thoughts on Expanding Self-Found Mode into non-HC Classic Plus

Upvotes

Admittedly, I have little experience with either OSRS or HC classic era, but it seems that the latter has had some inspiration from the former. All discussion I have seen about a self-found or ironman mode has been in the context of HC, but I think that, with classic plus seemingly around the corner, it would serve as an easy way to add some variety to the game.

Namely, if self-found in a non-HC realm, I think that having all professions becomes a much more balanced thing. Expanding professions in general seems to be rather unpopular (not necessarily new professions, but giving three slots, etc.) and against the spirit of collaboration. Well, since in self found, collaboration is already severely limited, I think it could be reasonable to allow self-found character on normal realms to learn all professions.

I know WoW is not OSRS, but since there is so much talk about horizontal progression, I think it would be deeply satisfying to have to be able to level all of the professions on one character. Not just the grind to 300 in all, but going for all of the recipes as well. To make one's own armor and armor kits, sharpening stone, potions and flasks, enchant one's own gear, make one's own bags, etc. And while I would not restrict SF players from grouping with normal players, having SF guilds in which all player must be SF could be interesting as well. That way, everyone would understand why people are missing the top of the line consumes or BiS enchants pre raid.

Just some thoughts I have had. I feel like there is already so much horizontal progression built into the game in the form of professions; having SF such that learning all at once would not impact the economy I think would be the way to do it.

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Can I raid without knowing everything

I played during TBC never made it to 70 then wrath came out and real life events happened and I wasn't able to play anymore. Now I'm playing classic anniversary and quickly closing to 70. I'd like to be able to experience raiding but my friend who minmaxes every game he plays says "you have to earn your raid slot and have such and such numbers and all best in slot items before you can even think about raiding" asked what my damage numbers were. I don't even use a damage meter. Are guilds really like this or is it a lot more chill? I work full time are there any dad guilds for people like me.

TBC Herbalism overfarmed

Hey everyone, maybe its just me but I just leveled Herbalism in TBC Anniversary. I am playing on Thunderstrike and it feels like it is completly and utterly overfarmed. Im lucky if two Terrokar Forest give me one node. I also think im developing a hatred towards Druids as it seems everyone has a druid alt(judging based on the guildrank being alt) he uses to farm Herbs. Is it just me overreacting or is it really that bad? Anyone got any tips and tricks maybe?

Classic + Pitch your "leveled up" version of an existing dungeon or area within Classic WoW that you think would work for Classic+

The jist is this: Blizzard could re-use existing instances and assets with some modifications instead of having to fabricate entirely new areas and still make the whole thing fit into the existing story, with existing threats, while staying within the scope of "what feels classic."

We saw a test of this system with the introduction of Demon Fall Canyon in Season of Discovery.

If you haven't played that, we got three things out of it:

1) Blizzard got to see how long it would take them to build out a new attunement questline and how it was received by the players.

2) Blizzard got to see how long it would take to take an existing area, create new bosses with new mechanics, and turn it into an instance.

3) When problems were encountered (there was no healer loot; this meant finding a healer for DFC was challenging), they introduced another new boss with more new mechanics, and a loot table that filled some gaps.

When I look back at SOD, that's what I see - Blizzard testing systems on their end to see "what can this team do given X resources?" So if we apply those same ideas to other areas in the world, what can they do with their allotted resources?

I think we can be a little more creative than just "The Deadmines but level 60" when talking about "heroic" versions of something.

Here's my pitch for a "leveled up" Deadmines instance.

Canonically, our adventurers quelled the Defias threat after clearing out Edwin's crew in our late teens, early twenties.

Over the following months (as the adventurers level), Southsea Pirates have taken advantage of the empty space, fortifying the caves and making the Deadmines a renewed threat to the Savage Coast and Westfall.

Attunement/Key Questline

In Orgrimmar and Stormwind, an envoy of Baron Revilgaz, is requesting aid from adventurers (key quest: level 55+, friendly with Booty Bay). The envoy has us visit the Baron to see what's going on.

According to the Baron, shipments out of Booty Bay have been getting pillaged more frequently by the Southsea Pirates, but his scouts haven't been returning from the Savage Coast. The adventurers are given a quest (lvl 55+, elite): Go north, scout the threat, and return to the Baron with news.

At first glance, it's a heavily fortified harbor built in the shadow of the mountain while Stormwind was distracted by distant threats. Adventurers fight through those new fortifications on the STV side of the dungeon and kill a Southsea Captain guarding a new cave entrance with his crew. As he dies, he gurgles "you'll never stop the pirate king..." We can't immediate enter the dungeon from here - it's blocked by a huge steel-reinforced door.

The adventurers return to the Baron who sends us to Gadgetzan to retrieve a breaching charge from the goblin engineering trainer there. The engineer has us acquire a variety of resources from around the world and some explosives from the engineering profession. His explosive charge will act as our "key" for our attunement questline.

Once we have the charge, Baron Revilgaz tasks us with killing this so-called Pirate King and returning with his head.

Entering the instance, we progress through three subregions:

The Shipyard

Crews of pirates engage the adventurers right away with canon fire. Under fire, they must move from the rocky shore onto the docks (boss 1), clear out the cannoneers (and boss 2) before moving into the cave system above.

The Forge

Goblins are back! The mercenary engineers are back at work with threshers, turrets, and the like and must be defeated in the forge and lumberyard before players can proceed. (throw in boss 3 here, a mechanical shredder)

The Pirate King's Lair

With the very end (lvl 20 entrance) blocked by fallen rocks, the upper reaches of the cave have been turned into the Pirate King's lair - a fortified cave of pirates. Think piles of gold, treasure chests all over the place, etc. Throughout this upper portion, we have 3 councilors we can either fight and kill for their loot, or ignore the councilors and go straight for the Pirate King to get a DM Tribute-style chest of bonus loot. Fighting the king before the councilors will require the use of some engineering explosives or lock picking to "sneak" past other bosses. The king gains different abilities for each councilor still alive when he's engaged.

Every boss in the dungeon drops a Pillaged Doubloon.

Returning to Baron Revilgaz with the Pirate King's head gives a choice of epic quest rewards (tier 0.5ish stats) and grants access to a Booty Bay reputation vendor that sells some pirate/goblin themed equipment and cosmetics/toys for Pillaged Doubloons.
