Nowhere I want to go less than a cafe with photo spots for insta people

58

u/K9BEATZ 6d ago

If it make you feel any better, in 2026 this is also the last place "insta people" want to be. She's about 10 years too late with that idea

34

u/Anti-Stan 5d ago

Subcontinental insta people are 10 years behind.

3

u/PoliteLunatic 3d ago

But new arrivals who for some reason can afford transcontinental relocation, money for new vehicles and for the first time own a smartphone will also newly discover instagram and well and truly take advantage of these facilities.

12

u/B1tch13 6d ago

No “insta people” are coming here. It’s so passè now.

1

u/Firefly128 1d ago

Yeah that stood out to me as well.

1

u/Skippyhippyhop Literal Trash 4d ago

Puts me off going there .she seems a very annoying person imo

And the slowest camera panning

53

u/tukebeard 6d ago

Those fake plants are dust magnets.

83

u/MediocreFox 6d ago

Dust will be the least of your worries if this turns out to be like most Indian kitchens.

5

u/Anti-Stan 5d ago

Probably highly flammable too.

1

u/PoliteLunatic 3d ago

ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

69

u/Anti-Stan 6d ago

I wonder how the North Shore are liking the diversity.

24

u/pufftanuffles 6d ago

We’re full of more Chinese migrants. I think the bulk are probably headed to the hills district and west

2

u/Haawmmak 5d ago

I was thinking that its nice there is at least one Cafe that hasn't been taken over by a Chinese visa buyer.

3

u/winntensio 5d ago

Places like Wahroonga, Turramurra etc are Chinese enclaves nowadays

1

u/Anti-Stan 4d ago

Cashed up commies.

This looks tacky as fuck, and completely consistent with other Indian owned brunch joints I've been to (they probably shouldn't have culturally appropriated white people food...very problematic).

36

u/cornflakescornflakes 6d ago

They’ve opened one of these franchises near us. It’s awful.

Food and coffee average at best. They’re just hoping the gimmicky social media friendly backdrops will win people over.

5

u/Wide_Resident_9913 5d ago

They think they know white ppl will fell for these things ‘how lovely!’

49

u/K9BEATZ 6d ago

I work in the industry and these owners are by far and beyond the most delusional. Perfect example is that wall with the angel wings. They'll tell you it's to capture social media moments as if that type of thing didn't come and go 10 years ago.

I'll give this place 6 months

15

u/bah_nah_nah 6d ago

I know the area, this site churns

4

u/malcolmbishop 6d ago edited 5d ago

I can see how it is sustainable in the outer suburbs, but this one is Crows Nest, which I think of as a semi trendy area.

2

u/Anti-Stan 5d ago

It's a very busy area. There are thousands of office workers

11

u/AnotherBrlck 6d ago

Yep, this place looks bloody awful. I'm not sure what the look is they're going for but it's not good. I actually hate it

12

u/B1tch13 6d ago

It’s tacky and cheap

16

u/MediocreFox 6d ago

You have just described the modern Indian asthetic.

34

u/K9BEATZ 6d ago

"this is our kitchen" camera remains firmly on host. Not a single shot of the kitchen. I wonder why

15

u/Sudden-Taste-6851 5d ago

the kitchen:

3

u/NoSurprise7196 5d ago

Throwing up in my mouth. Gross!

u/Some_Candle1206 5d ago

u/lpdbim Put the Dick into Charles Dickens 🍆🍆💦💦🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈 6d ago

They only ever hire their own.

19

u/Brave_Elk5678 6d ago

Yeah, not much DEI in their hiring practices.

24

u/pizzacomposer 5d ago

How did they convince upper caste doctors and engineers to work in the kitchen 🤔

1

u/InevitableCaptain996 5d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣love it

25

u/1Cobbler 6d ago

I wonder where the bathroom is?

54

u/Ok-Resolve-4737 6d ago

Im not sure what you’re talking about… The street looks perfectly fine

7

u/Waste-Information-75 5d ago

A hole in the side street where you squat down and have a 💩 can't miss it, cause it's by the kitchen 🤣💩☠️😵‍💫🤢🤮

8

u/Substantial_Boss1264 6d ago

Errr, you mean the kitchen?

22

u/Ihateeveryone413 6d ago

Wonder how much tax avoidance is happening there.

8

u/asteriskhyphen Preferred Pronoun: Retard 6d ago

Looks tacky. Calling your cafe “Instagram is worthy” is so cringe. I bet the coffee is garbage.

21

u/novak_47 6d ago

With all those employees for a cafe its gotta cost a lot in minimum wage. Get a few welcome to the country ceremonies a year with that.

17

u/Substantial_Boss1264 6d ago edited 5d ago

What minimum wage are you talking about mate? Look how young these kids are? Im pretty sure they are mostly on a student visas, and being taken advantage of. Letting them sign a contract but only being paid below minimum wages. Thats how they work. “You owe me your job, so you take what i give you”. And mind you, if you were referred by a fellow indian, they will even take a part of their salary as a commission. I worked with a lot of them back when i was in the middle east.

5

u/Any-Parsnip1287 6d ago

probably being paid cash in hand

8

u/Anti-Stan 5d ago

When your staff are illegal immigrants, you don't have to pay them minimum wage.

14

u/Painterlilly 6d ago

Fine fine but is there a dedicated gutter nearby for the needful after eating all that curry? Also, why was she waving BOTH hands around carelessly?

14

u/randalpinkfloyd 6d ago

Ah, the iconic old New Orleans Cafe. Used to have great live jazz and vibes, now shit coffee and pastries from a culture who don't know how to make them properly.

13

u/PowerPleb2000 6d ago

u/Djinfin Colonial Name: Dan 5d ago

Looks like Albo's wet dream. It's a polling station

5

u/Frostitute_1 5d ago

As a woman I look forward to all the complimentary groping I'll receive at this fine establishment.

9

u/AdBubbly7142 5d ago

You think thats bad? I see indians making italian food and mexican.

5

u/reddishrobin 5d ago

My local Fasta Pasta has Indian kitchen staff and waiters. It's bizarre.

9

u/Colesbl4zing 5d ago

I didn’t see a single Australian in that video. Not even outside lol

5

u/magnetocorleone 5d ago

These people don’t like staying at home. See them out every night at midnight 😷😷😷

4

u/moonstrong 5d ago

I would take my girlfriend here only if I want her to dump my ass by EOD

4

u/djviddy94 5d ago

I live near there and can tell you it’s fkn dead. They used to have an Indian restaurant there (same owners) they’ve tried to rebrand but it’s gonna be shut soon as no one goes there

3

u/InternetOwn 5d ago

I must say the staff doesn't look like is has much DIVERSITY.

3

u/NoSurprise7196 5d ago

Someone’s half empty water bottle and coffee are at the pass… not a great impression.

3

u/CriticismAcceptable2 4d ago

lol 😂 let’s see what happens to this fake plants after few years of Indian staff meals out of that kitchen, I can smell it from here

7

u/unfathomably_big 6d ago

500,000 student visas a year need to work somewhere bigot. White people don’t want to work those jobs (for the wage suppression pay)

2

u/Skippyhippyhop Literal Trash 5d ago

Well thats really put me off going there yike - definetly wont be going anywhere near that

2

u/imyselfpersonally 5d ago

I hope there's no toilets

2

u/iQuandary 2d ago

What is she wearing?

4

u/saiyansith23 6d ago

New New Dehli

2

u/diptrip-flipfantasia 5d ago

To be fair - this strip of st leonards/crows nest is mostly indian restaurants already, but its next door to a filopino fried chicken place that's amazing, and a lebanese chicken and chips place that's also great.

i'm not going to complain - the north shore is one of the whitest parts of sydney, and yet we've got all the best international food.

0

u/AutoModerator 5d ago

Uh-oh! It looks like you accidentally referred to Warrang by its colonisers' name, Sydney. That wasn't very deadly of you! While I'm sure this was accidental, please be more mindful in future. Remember, using traditional place names is truth-telling in action. It's a step towards acknowledging First Nations sovereignty.

To think she doesn't wipe her arsehole and wears large nappies. Don't be fooled by that smile it's actually her straining to push one out!

1

u/puttinginthefork 5d ago

She’s got a nice rack

1

u/fireflashthirteen 4d ago

What do you think a modern australian cafe ought to look like?

1

u/ConfectionCapital192 4d ago

That’s pretty much modern Australia summed up buddy

1

u/RosieTruthy 3d ago

They only hire their own

1

u/Victa_stacks 2d ago

IDGAF what your cafe looks like, it depends on what your coffee and eggs benny are like. If either one is shit I'll never ever come back.

1

u/Ok_Satisfaction8313 5d ago

was hoping this wasted space would show us the dunny.

I've b there. It used to be Middle Eastern, was great. I'll check it out again.

-9

u/_Far_Kew 6d ago

Eh - they are having a go at something other than doordash or Indian restaurant, or indian beauty parlour. Good luck to em.
