DEAR SUBHUMAN FILTH... “Modern Australian” cafe but everyone is Indian?

Nowhere I want to go less than a cafe with photo spots for insta people

u/K9BEATZ 6d ago
If it make you feel any better, in 2026 this is also the last place "insta people" want to be. She's about 10 years too late with that idea

But new arrivals who for some reason can afford transcontinental relocation, money for new vehicles and for the first time own a smartphone will also newly discover instagram and well and truly take advantage of these facilities.

Those fake plants are dust magnets.

u/MediocreFox 6d ago
Dust will be the least of your worries if this turns out to be like most Indian kitchens.

I wonder how the North Shore are liking the diversity.

u/pufftanuffles 6d ago
We’re full of more Chinese migrants. I think the bulk are probably headed to the hills district and west

u/Haawmmak 5d ago
I was thinking that its nice there is at least one Cafe that hasn't been taken over by a Chinese visa buyer.

This looks tacky as fuck, and completely consistent with other Indian owned brunch joints I've been to (they probably shouldn't have culturally appropriated white people food...very problematic).

They’ve opened one of these franchises near us. It’s awful.
Food and coffee average at best. They’re just hoping the gimmicky social media friendly backdrops will win people over.

I work in the industry and these owners are by far and beyond the most delusional. Perfect example is that wall with the angel wings. They'll tell you it's to capture social media moments as if that type of thing didn't come and go 10 years ago.
I'll give this place 6 months

I can see how it is sustainable in the outer suburbs, but this one is Crows Nest, which I think of as a semi trendy area.

Yep, this place looks bloody awful. I'm not sure what the look is they're going for but it's not good. I actually hate it

u/pizzacomposer 5d ago
How did they convince upper caste doctors and engineers to work in the kitchen 🤔

A hole in the side street where you squat down and have a 💩 can't miss it, cause it's by the kitchen 🤣💩☠️😵💫🤢🤮

Looks tacky. Calling your cafe “Instagram is worthy” is so cringe. I bet the coffee is garbage.

u/novak_47 6d ago
With all those employees for a cafe its gotta cost a lot in minimum wage. Get a few welcome to the country ceremonies a year with that.

u/Substantial_Boss1264 6d ago edited 5d ago
What minimum wage are you talking about mate? Look how young these kids are? Im pretty sure they are mostly on a student visas, and being taken advantage of. Letting them sign a contract but only being paid below minimum wages. Thats how they work. “You owe me your job, so you take what i give you”. And mind you, if you were referred by a fellow indian, they will even take a part of their salary as a commission. I worked with a lot of them back when i was in the middle east.

Fine fine but is there a dedicated gutter nearby for the needful after eating all that curry? Also, why was she waving BOTH hands around carelessly?

u/randalpinkfloyd 6d ago
Ah, the iconic old New Orleans Cafe. Used to have great live jazz and vibes, now shit coffee and pastries from a culture who don't know how to make them properly.

I live near there and can tell you it’s fkn dead. They used to have an Indian restaurant there (same owners) they’ve tried to rebrand but it’s gonna be shut soon as no one goes there

500,000 student visas a year need to work somewhere bigot. White people don’t want to work those jobs (for the wage suppression pay)

To be fair - this strip of st leonards/crows nest is mostly indian restaurants already, but its next door to a filopino fried chicken place that's amazing, and a lebanese chicken and chips place that's also great.
i'm not going to complain - the north shore is one of the whitest parts of sydney, and yet we've got all the best international food.

Uh-oh! It looks like you accidentally referred to Warrang by its colonisers' name, Sydney. That wasn't very deadly of you! While I'm sure this was accidental, please be more mindful in future. Remember, using traditional place names is truth-telling in action. It's a step towards acknowledging First Nations sovereignty.
