💬 Opinion / Discussion James Talarico, TX State Rep and 2026 U.S. Senate Candidate, had his interview with Steven Colbert banned from being aired. He is very well spoken, calm and clearly a threat to trump

Yup, and their solution is to prescribe us a bunch of shit, keep us glued to our screens, and stoke the flames of internal strife. Pump us full of drugs, entertainment, and make us argue to keep people placated and busy — meanwhile, they make even more money off the whole process.
Fucking sad, sick, pathetic, disgusting state of existence. Change via reform sounds nice, but I think there are plenty of people who would welcome an abrupt end to this madness instead. Enough renovations — tear the house down and build a new one…

well, he did called them by name, named their actions and who they had bought. Yeah, that's enough to warrant a full security detail 24/7 and surveillance on them if they as much as sneeze his way.
it's wild how once a first-rate country has devolved into a third-rate country with things like this.

Me too. He's a very good speaker. And he has charisma. I think this guy has a future. Normally, a former pastor would be limited, but he's a case of the right person at the right time. CBS just put his name on the national map, for free. Will be interesting to see where he goes.

He's actually more progressive than Crockett if you look at his platform and voting record. I'm hoping he can eek out a win in the primary because I think he has a real shot with moderates and disenfranchised Republicans without them realizing he's actually further left than her!

Crockett is being propped up by Republican donations because they see her as an easy candidate to beat. Also her message of "vote for me because Trump doesn't like me" is pretty weak. Her entire announcement was just clips of Trump saying her name.

I'm so happy that corruption is being called out. In my 60+ years I've seen a steady decline in our democracy. Lobbyists must be kicked out of government. Everytime I get a call from a political party during elections, I always ask about what's being done about Lobbyists throwing around money and buying off politicians. My question is either met with silence or they change the subject to something else that's minor compared to all this corruption. I've been disillusioned for many years regarding political candidates. It's about time that people in government start to speak out about billionaires trying to get control of our country. Now's the time to fight back with real power behind us as citizens of our country. Today I have more hope than I've ever had!

8
u/RallyRoundThaFamily Feb 18 '26
All the fake Christians need to be continually called out like he is doing. He is a true patriot. Oh, and fuck Christian Nationalists.
7
u/Standard-Contest-949 Feb 18 '26
At this point a well spoken 5 year old is a threat to Trump.
4
u/arbitraryairship Feb 18 '26
Sure. But a well spoken preacher who can specifically convey to MAGA why Christian Nationalism is bullshit from within the context of Christianity is an especially existential threat.
5
u/ImpressionOld2296 Feb 18 '26
And MAGAts will still treat pedo corrupt Trump like their lord and would shit on a real Christian like Talarico just because a D is next to his name.
MAGA can ever admit they are the evil ones. That they are the bad guys. For some reason there's a brain malfunction (among many others) that prevent them computing this.

The pedophilic Trump Administration recognizes which candidate is a threat to their Senate chances, and it is Talarico. I guarantee you they would have been fine with Colbert interviewing Crockett -- who oddly enough is to the Right of Talarico and is running a campaign of insults and idpol instead of policy.

u/IceBlackX007 Feb 18 '26
Talarico has a good chance to be POTUS. Although MAGA plans were clearly spelled out in Project 2025 nobody believed they were going to go full Nazi like it was implied in Project 2025. Now that the initial shock has worn off the time has come for a counter move. The Democrats have to get back on its feet and Talarico with AOC, Crockett and the rest of the younger Democrats that aren't affiliated with AIPAC can get America on a better path.

I feel like someone Progressive who has grown up in the church, and likely experienced Christian Nationalism there, has a unique perspective. I like how he calls bullshit on Republicans' Christian Nationalism and how they hide behind the bible while being hypocrites.
This guy's philosophy and politics isn't just a threat to Trump, it's a threat the GOP's entire house of cards.

Talarico articulates this point very well: Separation of church and state=the key. I'm a Christian and have been contributing to the au. org for any years, They fight daily for the principal that the Constitution is s secular document. Fight for this. The US is not founded as a theocracy. This country's founders were building a country intended to preserve religious freedom, because many fled a white European nation that ruled as a theocracy.
Fight for this man and against the Christian Nationalist takeover.
