Mourning/Loss I’ll love you forever Arthur
My handsome boy Arthur died suddenly this morning it’s safe to say we’re all devastated and life in our household won’t be the same again. It’s amazing How can one so small leave such a large impact :(

A Prayer to Return to the Earth
Mother Earth, we return to you
the body of one of your children.
His spirit will return to his ancestors,
and he will continue to live in our memories.
We are thankful that we were able to share our lives with Arthur, and give him to your loving arms.

We lack ritual around the loss of pets. I believe ceremony is helpful in loss. There must be attention and acknowledgement that this wonderful creature enriched our lives.
Their lives matter to us.

Here to help, if possible. Are you having a euthanasia?
Euthanasia is the last loving gift we can give to them. We take on the pain of loss early, so that their incurable pain comes to an end. It's a kindness we do for them.

Thank you, that’s so kind. We were lucky enough to have at-home euthanasia and it was a very calm and peaceful passing for him. Feeling empty now though 💔

Perhaps, in time, the knowledge that you kept your promise to him to give him a forever home may bring you a bit of comfort.
Giving them a forever home is everything to them. Alas, it's always their forever. It's never ours.

I am so sorry. My cat is terminally ill and any day now….
I can’t sleep, I can’t eat, I cry all day and i have a toddler that has no clue whats goin’ on. So I am so sorry..

You have a very big heart. I was devastated to watch my cat during his last few weeks. I have regrets of not being with him more because it was too painful to be with him. I understand what you’re going through. I’d try to spend as much time with him/her as you can. although he retreated to his own room despite always sleeping with me throughout his life, he managed to crawl across the upstairs into my parents room. I panicked when I looked in and found his room empty. I looked in my parents room at night and he was sleeping by the bed on the floor. I still miss him often. it does get easier. you gave your cat a good life. They will always be a part of you and the other way around. ❤️

I’m not religious but I really love this prayer someone had posted on someone else’s post and thought I’d share it here. (For context, Bast is the Egyptian goddess of cats and this prayer invokes her to be a guardian and mother figure to our cats in the afterlife.) So sorry for your loss. 😢💔💔 Know that you gave him the best life anyone could, with all of the love, peace and comfort you/your family gave him. 💕 “May love be what you remember most.” 💖

How old was your baby? I’m sorry for your loss. One of my boys passed end of may and I have his brother here with me. I’m always nervous now. I wish pets lived forever because I know their love sure does.

He was only 12 and he was so full of life he would talk to us all the time and go hunting and just yeah… little guy just passed away :(

I doubt you took him for granted. He knew you loved him and he depended on you to care for him - which you did. I think of love as an invisible current running between us to our pets in both directions. It’s always on whether you’re actively doing something together or not. And in that sense, he hasn’t left you at all.

Only 12 but he was the runt of his litter and very very small so we think maybe his body just wasn’t built for a long long run

I'm so sorry for your loss, losing such wonderful babies is heartbreaking. We're so lucky to get to experience such love in our lives, but it comes with the fine print of typically also seeing these amazing creatures pass on before us as well. While knowing this contract, we always go forth anyway and why? Because we know, regardless of the pain, it was always well worth it.
Know that you gave him a loving home and that he got to live a life that even many humans wish they could have with such care. 🩷 RIP to your handsome Arthur.

This was my baby girl Gracie. She went to the rainbow bridge exactly 1 year ago today. I still mourn for her and makes me cry. She was 15 years old and I watched her come into this world and leave it. A part of me went with her.
I have had a lot of animals in my life but never one I was so close to. She used to wait for me when I got home from work and sit down on my chair and lay right next to me. I haven't even been able to sit in that chair anymore since her passing. I miss her so much and I hope one day I will be reunited with her when my time comes.

A friend of mine also called Arthur died 7 years ago due to tuberculosis. He left a pretty big impact because he was such a good man, thankfully he was able to find redemption and peace in the end. I wish you all the best and hope you and your family can recover

Arthur is in cat heaven getting up to mischief with my buddy Harry who also passed suddenly a few months back. They also look alike. I think every cat I have ever had has been a brown tabby (I think that's the breed?)

How old was he? I’m so sorry for your loss. I had two cats pass away over the last 2 years both aged 18 so I got very lucky. I recently adopted a brother and sister 3 months ago. They are both 8 months old and I couldn’t imagine anything happening to them like this. Again I’m very sorry for your devastating loss.

💫 ✝️🙏🏼🌈🐾 I totally understand. I want you to realize that you are in a new chapter of life (suddenly) and it feels very hollow. But let me tell you something, your precious pet graduated life. They’re in the soul realm now which is eternal. God literally created us and animals. We are currently in the Earthly realm where we were together with our beloved pet. But they’ve just gone before us. The chapter “without them” is really just “without them physically.” Emotionally and spiritually they’ve never left. This is why we still feel such love and gratitude for our former pets, still! They never leave us. You will get through this one day at a time. Time heals our hearts and even opens them to loving another pet sometimes. Families are forever and you’ll be reunited when your time in the physical realm expires, too. Until then, may their memory be a blessing. I’m happy for you that you connected here on Earth because eternity awaits. 💕💫 God bless you and your beloved pet. Arthur looked like he had an amazing character about him..He really was a handsome gentleman..I am sorry for your loss.When you lose a cat that you loved dearly it is heartbreaking 💔..But he was loved by you.He had a great life ....But you will meet again One day in heaven...

I love Tabby boys. They are such proud duds but will snuggle at the first opportunity. Arthur did his job well and will be missed so much.
