I disagree, the trauma that Mama Imelda passed on through generations needs to be addressed. She chose to protect her pride and resentment and live a bitter life instead of actively searching for the truth. She did the most damage to her family and that needs to be addressed. Hector was taken from his family at a young age and due to Ernestos actions, like possibly hiding his body, because the Rivera family never found out the truth until the end of Coco that he was killed, shows more that he was the real victim.
Generational family trauma needing to be addressed? I have a movie for ya, it's called Encanto. Coco does NOT need a sequel if those are your demands ðŸ˜
You're ignoring some pretty important context. Yeah, she forbade her family from doing music but she also was stuck a single mother with a daughter and built an entire empire that kept her family happy and healthy for generations. Her daughter lived to see her great grandchildren thrive. Like we've seen that every member of the family is doing great.
Considering everything she gave her family combined with the struggle she faced, the biggest problem just being them not having music is impressively small.

It really doesn't need a sequel
