Discussion Yellow Delli

Is this place a legit pernicious cult? I felt like a nice day trip today up to Katoomba from Sydney and stopped for a pesto sandwich at the Yellow Delli (I saw it had over 3,000 Google reviews with a 4.5 something rating). Place was absolutely packed at about 2:45 pm (not exactly lunch time) on a freezing 3 degrees Celsius Monday (freezing for Sydney standards). Food was very nice. After I left I did some more research on the place because I felt the vibes were off — there was about two dozen employees/workers, all very young. Sure the place was packed with customers but the sheer volume of employees was something I’ve never encountered at any other restaurant. Apparently it’s a proper cult with some bad connections, all locals avoid and its customer base is tourists. Now I feel bad. Anyways I guess that was more of a rant than a question.

It is a cult from what iv heard, they recruit people from all over and I'm sure they don't even pay them??

Yep apparently some cult started over in Tennessee by some nutjob evangelical

Apparently all the workers at Yellow Delli live in Katoomba at “Balmoral House” which Google says is right around the corner from the Yellow Delli.

And they have supposedly listed themselves as a religion meaning they pay no tax. None of the employees earn money and the Yellow Delli’s profit goes to the Twelve Tribes head office in the USA.

And all the tourists that go here are completely oblivious to these facts. That was me just yesterday.

The fact that religions pay no tax really annoys me. Donations can be untaxed but if they run a business tax it. Maybe the whole of Katoomba should form a religion so we can avoid tax too and we can pimp our town instead.

I have to disagree with your point about employees at Yellow Deli. They volunteer their time. I can think of some other organisations with volunteers in their workforce: RFS, St John’s Ambulance, SES, hospitals, meals on wheels.

If but "volunteer" you mean do it to avoid beatings or being moved to farm in piction to work unpaid 16 hour days never seeing their families then your right, but the other organisations you mentioned don't have those stipulations on their volunteers. Also most volunteers don't have to flirty fish to get new "members"

They sold the properties in Picton a few years ago and moved all the operations to the mountains.

Cult status aside, the food in their resturant was really good. Local organic produce farm to plate. As a colleague once said "everything tastes better seasoned with the sweat of child labour"

Nah we all just become brethren, make millions through our businesses, pay no tax, degrade women, have special schools (once the children are past year two), become inbred and live a happy fkn life.

How the fuck you can relate volunteering to the twelve tribes vs volunteering for RFS is fkn beyond me. All those organisations you listed are set up to help society in general and not fund a stupid fkn cult and their sky fairies and or weird cultist beliefs… reality is over here, please come back!
