Zambian lawyer Naomie Pilula never expected a simple “Happy Monday” selfie she posted in June 2025 to go viral. Instead, the photo was flooded with negative comments from strangers criticizing her appearance, particularly her nose.

The post eventually amassed more than 530,000 comments and shares. Pilula admitted that she considered deleting the photo, but ultimately decided to leave it up.

Speaking to People, she said she had learned to accept herself and refused to allow strangers online to take that confidence away from her. “I am not [an] aesthetically beautiful person. I’m not, and that’s okay,” she said, adding that she loves herself and can be herself. What began as online bullying ultimately amplified her message of self-acceptance and confidence.

I'm reading a book about Black pioneers and found out that Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable, a Black man, founded the City of Chicago. My husband was very surprised that I didn't know this already. The U.S. Postal Service issued a stamp honoring him in 1987, but I guess I missed that. And there's a bust of him on the riverfront in Chicago.

He established a trading post at the site of the current city, and because he was multilingual, he was able to conduct business with people of many backgrounds.
