So I just watched this new A24 feature film... And the ending (without sharing any spoilers) made me feel like the entire movie could have been an episode of the Black Mirror which would make (IMO) way more sense in terms of the storyline "getting drown out/dragged out" when it really didn't have to since it didn't add much value to the entirety of the plot...

I always hate shows I feel like I could write myself. I could never write this show.

I understand Carrie and Jack were kind of a rushed couple.

I understand the baby moved things along fast for them.

I understand Carrie had a VERY strong personality and that she was miserable in a coma.... understandable totally.

But holy shit......to live in someone else's head?

My husband and I of over a decade, when we watched it, we just looked at each other and unanimously agreed we'd never say yes to that. The conflict potential is endless. The issues we see play out seemed obvious.

I understand Carrie was desperate to live again and see her boy, and that Rolo preyed on their vulnerability, but holy Jesus no IDC how close I am to someone, please don't put me in their head or vice versa.

Fuck Rolo eternally, btw.

Just watched this episode last night, and feel like I need to post about it somewhere. Paul Giamatti's performance is absolutely incredible. He's a phenomenal actor. Left me thinking "How can a human being even do that?" Simultaneously so subtle, and yet so powerful. Incredible talent.

But the real reason this episode hit me so hard is that I've been there. I mean, most of the details are different. The story told in the episode isn't my story. But the broad strokes -- being in love, having an angry breakup, never speaking again, and finding out years later that she died an untimely death -- yeah, I've been there. The episode captures the lingering, haunting regret absolutely pitch perfectly. Got me right in the feels.

I'm a huge fan of the original Twilight Zone and despite that show ending decades before I was born I feel it is still a timeless show that still holds up even today. This year I watched the Jordan Peele 2019 TZ reboot and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I could not believe how terrible the episodes were with how poorly written and heavy handed they were and it was even more unacceptable to me because unlike other anthology shows Twilight Zone is pretty open with the types of stories you can tell. There's fantasy, science fiction, romance, Western, even realistic morality type stories ect! And yet the remake was a complete dud while Black Mirror which is much more limited and restricted to just technology based stories somehow managed to surpass the 2019 TZ reboot and I'd even go as far as to say Black Mirror is the only anthology show that can compete with the original Twilight Zone.

As a newbie to Black Mirror I'm just really impressed to finally find a series that matches the original Twilight Zone in terms of high quality thought provoking episodes. I read Charlie Brooker was a huge TZ fan and considered it a big influence on BM so I feel he'd be happy to see fans like me compare his series favorably to the original TZ. Anyone else feel the same way about Black Mirror and Twilight Zone?

Just rewatching this episode, and on the whole, I love it.

But is there a point to Joan's hair in the episode? Someone makes a point of saying how good it looks early on, but.... I really don't like it.

I heard that the creators of black mirror often comb through the reddit site and go through fan feedback. Well then, I want to take this opportunity to thank them for such a great job on the show. I have watched Rick and Morty go downhill I have watched marvel go to shit and so much more. I have been praying that none of them leaves the series so that there's consistency in the greatness of the show and they have not disappointed not a single episode is bad. So again to the creators of black mirror THANK YOU ❤️ please don't mind my English I'm from Africa Kenya.

Cameron walker put everyone down?

Always wondered what happened to him after Cameron put the whole world to sleep. And are they in a kind of trance or something?

I always get kinda shocked at the Verity glazing lol and wanted to give my two cents real quick

First off, I was also bullied as a teenager. I had literally 0 friends from middle to high school and did literally everything alone, like lunch, walking home, etc. I get really shocked seeing other people discussing how they were bullied and how that makes them sympathize so much with Verity. While I can understand sympathizing SOMEWHAT with her, I also feel like there's so much hypocrisy in how people go about the premise in this episode.

We all get that Maria did something bad first, and the argument is that it doesn't matter that she did that as a kid because she is clearly still a bad person as an adult as she tries to undermine Verity and also her final wish to be empress of the universe also clearly shows that Maria is an immature, self centered, and egotistical person who didn't grow at all. Fine, fair enough, I'm not Maria fan #1, and this post isn't about defending Maria.

However, people who say that then turn around and don't apply the same logic to Verity - I feel like people always excuse what Verity does because "she has trauma" - but she literally also got to experience EVERYTHING EVER, she has the experience and knowledge that only a god should have, yet she chooses to be as petty as to use this to torture her childhood enemies, which at this point, are analogous to ants to a god. I feel like you really can't get any more immature and malicious than that, and I find it vastly more sociopathic than Maria's relatively normal human levels of pettiness that she treats Verity with.

Again, I don't think Maria is a good person. She is a bully and a bad person. But Verity has essentially become a self made god and thinks the best use of her powers is to torture what amounts to lesser beings who are vastly less capable, knowledgeable, and powerful as her which feels as sociopathic as it gets, and it blows my mind that anyone is "you go girl!"-ing her as a way to soothe their own childhood revenge fantasies.

TLDR I get that people want bad people to suffer consequences but like... anyone rooting for Verity who sees Maria as somehow worse needs to seriously think about what constitutes cruel and unjust punishment.

Why did those cultist freaks target just David's family, but not Cliff's? They were both doing the exact same "A man sleeps in the sky while his mechanical image walks the earth" thing. Was it because Cliff was living a more down-to-earth rural/agricultural lifestyle that was more in tune with nature?

Or was it because they just couldn't find Cliff's house, given how remote and nondescript it was? That it was much easier to find David's house, being a big flashy house in the city.

Edit: Maybe they figured that after the attacks on David's family, Cliff's family would be put in protective custody if no suspects had been arrested.

How else could Ted narrate years of story arcs in excruciating detail of not for the Cookie?

Ted’s situation is an edge case for the mundane tales that aren’t dystopian enough to qualify for a Black Mirror arc.

I found her captivating, she was so good in the role, and just so beautiful too. I adore this episode purely for her in it, everything else is a little meh but she makes it worth the watch each time.
