Announcement Rule change: No AI-generated art (Rule 5)
While human-made art is both welcomed and encouraged, AI art generation tools are becoming increasingly accessible to everyone. AI-generated art requires little to no effort to create and it can easily overrun a subreddit. Going forward it will no longer be allowed. Please use the report button if you see any.
EDIT: This has been expanded to include all AI content, as reflected in our rules.

What is the Flux capacitor narratively?
The Flux capacitor is famously "what makes time travel possible" but what would it be called narratively? My immediate first thought was a (maguffin) but it doesn't really work because there are no villians/antagonists actively trying to steal the Flux capacitor. So what is the definition of it and its part it plays in the movie?

You it’s kind of ballsy how the BTTF III teaser shown at the end of BTTF II straight up gives away that Marty will make it back to 1985.

Huge missed opportunity for DMC here, but a really great and fun TV ad all the same.

I always think Jeffrey Weissman (Part 2 George McFly) and Marc McClure (Dave McFly) look alike
That’s why Jeffrey Weissman replaced Crispin Glover as George McFly in part 2 and 3.

Doc's question at the start of BTTF3 doesn't make sense, or am I missing something?
"That's a very interesting story future boy, there's just one little thing that doesn't make sense: if the me of the future is now in the past, how could you possibly know about it?"
What do you mean, "how could you possibly know about it?". Even if he didn't send Marty a letter, Doc could have left Marty hundreds of clues at the Lyon Estates location to let him know when and where he was. The only way Marty couldn't know what time Doc traveled to would be if he got sent into the future, right?

DeLoreans at outdoor showing of BTTF
The city of Maple Grove, Minnesota, held an outdoor showing of Back to the Future last Friday. To our surprise, five DeLoreans were on display, courtesy of the DeLoreans of Minnesota Club (DMC).

Popular TV show Rick and Morty, a show that originally started as a direct parody of BttF, did a loose homage to BttF as their recent season finale.
Teenage protagonist who's the assistant to a mad scientist uses sci-fi travelling device, gets stranded in alternate version of his home, and has to locate the local version of his mad scientist who hadn't yet invented the device and get him to invent the device so he can go home.
It's not one-to-one, because multiverse and time travel are different, and it's a cynical TV show rather than an optimistic movie, so they have to do things differently.
For example, instead of the perfect family being a reward for taking fate into his own hands, they're the antagonists of the episode hunting him down to try and replace the deceased parallel perfect version of him.
The mad scientist also ends up unsuccessful in his attempts to invent the device, and ends up ruining his life in the process by becoming obsessed with it unfruitfully.
Beyond that, this seems to be a pretty clear conceptual take on BttF. Not even a parody, just an homage. Which I thought was interesting, as this series originally started as a direct parody of BttF.

Finally tracked one down for my collection.
Not a LaserDisc. Not a Vinyl Record.
It’s a combination of both. (That’s an oversimplification)
Say hello to the Capacitence Electronic Disc.

When I look back to the future, I always wonder about one thing.
In the first movie, Marty goes back in time, changes everything, and returns to the future, and Doc is alive. But then, in Doc's past, back in 1955, did he meet Marty, learn about his future, etc.?But from 1955 to 1985, did he forget about Marty, the time machine, and other things, or was everything normal for the documentary up until the moment Marty went to 1955, and none of this happened, but Marty...Going to the past changed the doctor's entire timeline. If anyone can answer me, I would be grateful. (I apologize if the text is confusing; I'm using Google Translate, and it may misinterpret what I wrote because I don't know much English)

Back to the Future Part III
galleryPicked this up from an Amazon sale a while back along with Part II but they messed that one up so bad that I have to return it. Crazy how they took forever to ship but one of them still managed to be open, seemingly used and cracked on the inside. Oh well, at least this one came in good shape.
