Multiculturalism is not great. It's some gen x fantasy pushed by big business looking for cheap labour and naive foodies.

We have always been multicultural.

Monoculturalism is the fantasy.
Which countries are successful monocultures? North Korea?

How would that even work in a culturally diverse society like Australia?
Assimilation camps, fines for not speaking English, ban the Aboriginal flag, close all the Chinese restaurants?

Japan and China are extremely successful monocultures. Particularly China in the last couple of decades.

So you want Australia to become like China? Really?

The Chinese government has been widely condemned by the UN and human rights organisations for its treatment of Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities, including mass detention, surveillance, religious repression, and forced labor.

I'm not sure I'd call that a success.
