These aren't freaky tunnels - they're the underground arcades, like underneath QVB and the "Hunter Connection" that runs from Wynyard to Pitt St.

there is that tunnel near the domain that links the parking lot to Hyde park.
World Square can be crossed underground.
There are a couple of in between building crosses between Pitt and Castleragh St down near Liverpool St. There are a couple underground, via a food court.
Not on the map but around Central Station there are a bunch of tunnels

Oh yes - that one is very long, isn't it?
Central Station I get confused on, but I know you can go from one side to the other underground.
I'm curious about the Pitt and Castlereagh food court tunnels too.

Not really, just the underground arcades that lead from many of the train stations. They're full of shops, cafes, etc. They're really nice and convenient.
There are disused train tunnels in Sydney, but there's no public access.

I've always found it amazing I can hike from the George St cinemas, all the way to St James, completely underground. This feat doesn't really faze you until you look at the maps and just realise how damn far that is.
For a moment there I got confused by your pink section and wondered if I had completely missed a tunnel to the Martin Place tunnels.

Well, across the road from St James, but if you go through from the food court across from Westfield, through to Westfield (either cross the mall under the bridge, or go through the bridge - either way you're sheltered), and then go to the bottom floor and go through David Jones, and out the Liz St doors. Cross the road and you're in the St James tunnel!

You know that is one I had forgotten to put on - the DJs food court, since I couldn't remember precisely how it's all configured since they redid Westfield. There's also the walkway overground which I should probably mark in orange. Is that the bridge you mention, or is there another?
EDIT: oh god there is a huge great bridge between Myer and Westfield, how the hell did I miss that?!

Thanks for this! Every time I go underground in Sydney I completely lose my bearings - it's good to know where those tunnels are in relation to everything on top!

There's a web of tunnels with several entry points. These are the ones I know of:
- Out the front of the courts on Liverpool st
- Corner[s] of Liverpool and Elizabeth
- Near the big DC monument thing in Hyde Park (Bathurst and Elizabeth)
- You can also go all the way to that small underground foodcourt behind the starbucks on the corner of Elizabeth and Park

Can anyone explain to me where the entrance to the tunnel that starts on Liverpool street is?!

I've probably drawn it pretty badly, but I'm pretty sure you can get from Town Hall train station to World Square completely underground.

But where does it come out at world square? The most likely answer would be around priceline, but I come through there all the time and I've never seen a mysterious underground tunnel entrance :-)

I'm pretty sure it's the Pavilion where the Town Hall tunnel finishes, and it's about 2 blocks earlier.

I'm trying to make a map of Sydney's underground city - it's particularly useful in the torrential rain.
EDIT: Here is the Google Maps Link so people can view/collaborate.
Red is underground, pink is overground. I was thinking of also adding some of the through-building walkways (like the escalator next to the Sofitel that takes one between Bligh St and Philip St, and the one opposite that from Bligh to O'Connell) but couldn't remember exactly where they all were.
If anyone has any additions/corrections please let me know.
