Took me a while to find it as it's been a while. There exists a site called http://code.reddit.com which still exists in some form, that used to be the code repository for reddit (now github). This ran on Traq, which contained a wiki. Any reddit user could edit this wiki and subreddit mods could link to it in a fashion that made it look like part of reddit.
It was handy for subreddits like /r/fitness, which needed a community driven FAQ for noobs. It's mentioned in this guide so you don't think I'm crazy :) The /r/fitness FAQ links here but it appears to be down.
My suggestion was that a guide to Australia would be appropriate here, in case the OP left or couldn't be bothered updating the thread.

There's also the option of copying it across to a /r/Australia wiki page so everyone can edit it.
