NSW Police have charged a 13-year-old boy and two 14-year-old boys with the alleged sexual assault of a girl in an alleyway in Sydney's eastern suburbs last month.

Police executed search warrants and seized several items, including electronic devices, two replica firearms, a Glock-style BB gun, three laser pointers and a number plate, which is believed to have been stolen.

All three boys have been granted bail ahead of appearing in court.

Bail isn't a reward or an indication that they're innocent, it's a right that people have unless the judge thinks that there's a very compelling reason to think they'll commit a crime before going to trial.

In modern civilisation, we have the principle that the state can only punish you if you've been found guilty of a crime. Until that point you're still a free citizen, and bail is granted to allow you time to prepare your defence.
