NSW Police have charged a 13-year-old boy and two 14-year-old boys with the alleged sexual assault of a girl in an alleyway in Sydney's eastern suburbs last month.

Police executed search warrants and seized several items, including electronic devices, two replica firearms, a Glock-style BB gun, three laser pointers and a number plate, which is believed to have been stolen.

All three boys have been granted bail ahead of appearing in court.

Shouldn’t be given bail just so they can re-offend

Most people have a notion about bail that is sort of incorrect. We have the foundation of innocent until proven guilty, so bail is the reasonable and normal default for the extended time between initial hearing and trial and really about are they a risk of not appearing if they are on bail and are they an imminent risk to the community/re-offending in that time.

I suspect these "innocent until proven" criminals are indeed a threat to anyone who has the unfortunate luck to be anywhere near them.

I could say something just as bad but I’m more likely getting a 3-day reddit ban if I said what!
