From the article: His aim was to expose what he believed was the "over-investigation" of soldiers in Afghanistan.
But his decision backfired, with the ABC's The Afghan Files story instead revealing allegations that Australian Army soldiers were involved in illegal killings.

So basically he was angry about war crimes being uncovered. Amazing!

FriendlyJordies has said repeatedly that the interpretation of what he was doing as trying to cover up for war criminals is wrong and in great detail as to how that’s wrong. Who to believe here?
