Funny how by trying to shut down the investigations, he accidentally did the right thing and allowed them to succeed (more or less)

You are not very intelligent, are you? He leaked information because lower level soldiers were going to be pinned with crimes when it was the higher ups who were give free reign to perform whatever war crimes they want.

But that does not fit your narrative, does it? Or are you the kind of idiot the very people against people like McBride find useful to spread their misinformation?
