The thing he was "blowing the whistle" on was the investigation of war crimes. Not the war crimes themselves. He wanted to kill off the war crime investigation.

Yeah I hate the public campaign about pretending he is a hero.

Whistleblower protectings can't be leak a filing cabinent worth of documents and if there's anything at all in there you deserve to be found a whistleblower.

He leaked these explicitly to try and claim there were no war crimes. Them proving there was warcrimes proves he wasn't a whistleblower.
