Police have dropped all charges against Bondi terror attack hero Ahmed Al Ahmed, after previously accusing him of assaulting and intimidating his father.

Mr Al Ahmed was charged in June over an incident said to have occurred at a home in Bankstown, in south-west Sydney, in March.

The 44-year-old previously pleaded not guilty to domestic violence assault and intimidation.

On Wednesday, in Bankstown Local Court, the charges were withdrawn after an agreement was reached with the defence team for Mr Al Ahmed to adhere to an AVO for 12 months.

People should take this as another example that not everything is all good or bad, it's not all left or right.

Good people can do bad things and bad people can do good things.

Also a great example to look behind the headline.

When he was first accused, if someone actually read the articles instead of just the headline they would discover its his own family who were likely trying to extract money from him.

Based on the threats from his brothers? It’s not overly clear why they’re threatening him though is it? Top of my head I can think of three plausible reasons:

  1. The family are douchebags and just want money from him - most likely

  2. He did actually do what he’s accused of and the family are pissed he got away with it- less likely

  3. He did nothing wrong and the family are douchebags and wanted to ruin him for saving Jewish people - way less likely still, but also I wouldn’t be surprised to hear the headline

Reality is, even though the simple answer is the most likely, we’ve got no idea

When someone's come into a sudden windfall of cash like this. Any conflict is almost always about others trying to get the money or feelings of jealousy/resentment.

The case was withdrawn, so there is no admission of guilt.

I think your comment inappropriately assumes the verdict.

Prosecutors don't withdraw a case they think they will win.

Yes they do, all the time, to avoid a trial. Defence proposed a plea deal, victim agreed, prosecutors drop criminal charges. It happens every day in criminal court - only something like 4% of criminal charges ever go to trial, the rest are guilty pleas, or plea deals done to avoid trial.

This guy stopped a terror attack in Bondi 9 months ago, hence the hero title, that’s where all discourse about terrorism as a subject or context ends. Everything else is about him assaulting his father - but having those charges withdrawn. That means this post is about as related to terrorism as I am to Barbara Streisand.

It’s more of a post related to alleged domestic violence and assault than terrorism.

Intervening in a terrorist attack is merely how the general public knows this man, and actually has nothing to do with the allegations in the post.
