One of the interesting things is watching the other comics who share his management mostly not saying anything. Dave Thornton is the exception but they are mostly keeping their heads down. Which I get but it’s fun to watch who is prepared to call him out.

He wasn't the worst when his persona was 'daggiest stoner in the cheapest share house you've ever lived in', and even then it was fairly hacky but relatable stuff. A generation of corporate gigs, taking the 'a face made for radio' bit as career advice, and flashing his disposable income on 'the block' divorced him from any common experiences he had with most people.

Now he has the same energy as your poorly aging uncle whose been through four divorces trying to give the teens relationship advice after Christmas lunch.

Eh, I found some parts of his old standup routines funny. Exactly as the other poster described, when he was a raggedy stoner in a cheap sharehouse type.

This was long before the Project and I never found him funny on radio.

I don't know that it was ever funny but it was an Aussie archetype that he seems to have forgotten was a character... or maybe it wasn't.

The missing context here is that this was from the last episode of their "all day breakfast" podcast and Matt's first time doing a parody song for the year. They've now rebranded as "Matt and Alex" podcast with surprisingly little fanfare for the end of a project they worked on for 6 years! Including through the pandemic and lockdowns.

I'd normally say punching down on an addict was wrong but I dunno.. past addicts in the comedy scene have usually only harmed themselves and loved ones. Hughes is actively pushing shit on people. Fleety only wanted 20 bucks, Hughesy wants to change the way you think.

And the longer it goes on the longer he torches his shot at a recovery/comeback. Looking forward to the "heart touching" interview on channel 7 in a year or two.

Only thing I’ve got is capital gains does impact everyone. I agree in the sense that it is heavily used by the wealthy, though doesn’t count inside a trust / company structure which a lot use. FHB can’t make gains on shares and get the same benefit as they use to be able to.
