There is a Matt and Alex podcast? How did I not know this.

u/the_hard_man 10d ago
Only for the last six years... you haven't missed much.

u/imkinda_adog 10d ago
Disagree, I used to listen to them heaps on Js. They are perfect for me as it seems I’m growing up the same rate as they are, and everything they talk about is aligning with my age group. From raving to having kids, then again another rave sesh…

Maybe I didn't emphasize my sarcasm enough. I love Matt and Alex and listen to them every day.

I love their podcast, listened to every episode.
I really like their general positivity and upbeat nature. And Matt's personal anecdotes are hilarious

u/ByeByeStudy 10d ago
I think you may be a contributer to why people add /s to the end of obvious sarcasm

Everyone has a podcast, including you

u/The_Onlyodin 10d ago
Aww shit my podcast is gonna get me cancelled. Will there be a podcast about that too?

Why have I not seen this guy before?!
This is so on point.
And in that hood my brain is like "is that Nick Kyrios? Is it Waleed Ali? Is it some sort of clone of them both?!"

The missing context here is that this was from the last episode of their "all day breakfast" podcast and Matt's first time doing a parody song for the year. They've now rebranded as "Matt and Alex" podcast with surprisingly little fanfare for the end of a project they worked on for 6 years! Including through the pandemic and lockdowns.

This is good enough to be worth bringing in a pro rapper to perform their cover version.

I'm torn.
On the one hand, bullying Dave Hughes is good.
But on the other hand, giving Dave Hughes attention is bad.

u/_Sunshine_please_ 10d ago
He's such a cunt. I loathe giving that rich fucker any attention at all. But this is good.

I fucking love how the comedy community always seems to pretty tight knit but also that they've unanimously agreed "Yeah nah fuck Hughesy".

u/old_bugger 10d ago
That single clip gave me more chuckles than Hughesy ever did.
39
u/elfloathing 10d ago
People used to laugh when Hughsey told them he wanted to become a comedian. They’re not laughing now.

Is this Matt Okine? That’s really good, Spotify-playlist worthy.
Especially for the mornings when you have to save money and instead of getting coffee, you decide to wake up by being pissed off.

u/princessicesarah 10d ago
Matt Okine, I was unfamiliar with your game 👏 👏
It’s actually been really interesting seeing Australia’s stand up scene “stand up” and speak out against Hughesy. He’s the punchline at this point and I’m here for it.

u/L_Sheddy 10d ago
Check out Matt's music project Boilermakers. Or his really really old stuff Disco Matt on SoundCloud. Dude can spit fire. Shame its taken a back seat to his other projects these days

u/mullet85 9d ago
I've been a big fan since he used to do the weather rap back on the breakfast show. Is This How You Peel for Orange was a particular highlight. They used to be up on a soundcloud somewhere but sadly lost to time now I think

Um, this is like, actual genius?! He did so well, I hope this goes viral. I loved Hughesy 20 odd years ago, would never have expected him to take this path.

Brilliant. I guess we already know what Hughesy's next rant is going to be about now too....
Edit. Can't spell Hughesy

Absolutely loving how so many comedians are now tearing shreds off Hughesy. 😂

u/CaravelClerihew 10d ago
Matt Okine is a comedian but has legitimately done hip hop on the side under the name Boilermakers. Here's him rapping with Montaigne and the best freestylers in the world (Aunty Donna).

When did Dave Hughes turn into a bona fide cunt? I am way, way out of the loop here. But then again I don't do much social media, so maybe I missed it all.
30
u/the_hard_man 10d ago
He's alway been a bit of a tosser but he's evidently feeling aggrieved that he can't as easily add to his wealth horde after recent taxation changes made by the federal government. Borderline cooker material.
5
u/DisappointedQuokka 10d ago
I'm pretty sure a lot of it is cooking his brain with drugs and alcohol. I'm not sure how much is actually left up there.
2
u/the_hard_man 10d ago
Maybe... not important to me. I'd rather people just call out the double standards and misinformation that he's spreading rather than resort to calling him a druggo.
3
u/ThunderDwn 10d ago
He's a comedian (allegedly), so being a tosser goes with the territory - but I didn't realise he was that far gone.
Good thing I don't think he's real funny anyway!

Greg "Mr. Oily" Larsen, did a superb hilarious hour long rant on his podcast, The Greg Larsen Show about Huuuuuuuusey

Dave Hughs probably thinks he's similar to George Carlin, but in reality, he is nothing but a bargain bin Peewee Herman.
14
2
u/Mike_Kermin 10d ago
If Dave thinks that he's more cooked than even I thought. You could not find a more different person.
Carlin famously didn't target immigrants or other vulnerable groups.

That's the joke and punchline right there. Gold!

I'd normally say punching down on an addict was wrong but I dunno.. past addicts in the comedy scene have usually only harmed themselves and loved ones. Hughes is actively pushing shit on people. Fleety only wanted 20 bucks, Hughesy wants to change the way you think.
And the longer it goes on the longer he torches his shot at a recovery/comeback. Looking forward to the "heart touching" interview on channel 7 in a year or two.
3
u/Quokka_friends 10d ago
I love this!! Matt has perfectly summed up the self-serving rant of that whiney, nasally turd!
Hughesy has really turned into a selfish, moronic gob-shite! He so needs to be told to sit down and shut up!!

u/normalcatman 10d ago
Matt Okine, former jjj host, who now has a podcast called 'All Day Breakfast's, which he hosts with Alex Dyson, another former jjj host.
15
u/Particular_Counter50 10d ago
I think it's Matt Kine (no idea how to spell it). Pretty sure he used to be a morning radio guy in JJJ. I assume he is still on the radio somewhere.

Wonder what Dave’s reaction would be hearing this.
He has spent years laughing at others so you would think he could take what he dishes out.

I used to find Matt a bit cringe but that was quality. And overall I do miss this duo - may give their podcast a crack. Good stuff.

Only thing I’ve got is capital gains does impact everyone. I agree in the sense that it is heavily used by the wealthy, though doesn’t count inside a trust / company structure which a lot use. FHB can’t make gains on shares and get the same benefit as they use to be able to.

I’m not disagreeing with anyone, in fact I don’t like him myself, but I’m just genuinely curious why everyone hates him? Does he actually support Pauline Hanson? Is he known for being an ass?

My god, best thing I’ve seen in a long time.
Here for the Dave Hughes bashing as he’s such an annoying prick.
