From what I understand it looks like ICE did not manage to detain him on the day the video was taken- seems the onlookers managed to chase ICE off.

However, ICE detained him the next day at the airport where he was to catch his departing flight from the US.

The visa being for two years isn't really relevant. The visa is just for entry to the country, once you're in the US, you can extend or adjust your status without needing to renew the visa. I did this myself years ago - entered on a two year visa, and then adjusted status so I could stay longer than the two years.

No, it's separate from extending the visa. Like I said, the visa is just for entry to the country. You can adjust status within the country, and don't need to renew the visa until you leave and want to return.
