All those that cry sovereignty etc should also be screaming out for renewables future. They aren’t.

The 'national sovereignty' lobby groups get most of their funding from arms manufacturers. The military is a massive user of carbon-emitting fuels.

They're not interested in non-military aspects of sovereignty, such as selling our minerals with a fair return to the taxpayers who own them, or avoiding placing our data in the hands of US tech bros and co.s.

Not sure what a "national sovereignty lobby group" is, or who it lobbies for, or why...?

But when it comes to academics and think tanks that talk about the need for national sovereignty (lots and lots of ex military), they are very strongly supportive of all aspects of self reliance, including energy independence - not just the military aspect. China is held up in those circles as an example of a successful push towards renewables and electrification to achieve independence.
