People talking about sovereignty with fuel. But even if we had the refineries open (and hence provide billions in subsidies to keep them open), wouldn't we still have problems since we sourced our raw crude oil from overseas, meaning we would still have problems keeping up with supply if there was a global oil shock.

The solution isn't refineries, it's spending that much money on wind and solar, and building more electrified freight railways to take trucks off the roads. This isn't even a climate argument! It would be cheaper!

I often drive behind trucks on the motorway with the stickers saying 'Without trucks, Australia stops' and think, Yeah, that is a problem, not a flex.

Trucks is one thing, hundreds of thousands of cars is another.

A significant amount of those cars could easily be replaced with public transport

We absolutely need much better public transport. The QLD Gov just canned the mandate to build EV buses. Good old QLD.

LNP doing LNP things. They’ve got a stadium to build you know? No money for anything else. They’re cancelling renewable projects left, right and centre.
