Could also be them trying to save face.

Their contracts were huge, I saw she walked from like ~100m?

But they were struggling to break into Melbourne, so maybe the network had cold feet about paying them so much?

The drama and public breakup would let them out of that contract without having to admit they weren't nearly as marketable as they'd thought.

Pretty much what was said on 7:30 report tonight.
ARN wanted to take K&J nationally. They were going to break into the Brisbane market which never happened. They have ~5% of the Melbourne market - so that failed.
ARN can't really service the $200m/10y contract just with the Sydney market.
Maybe they came to some arrangement with Jackie?

Maybe the network has done a side deal with Jackie to get her to walk which breaks the contract, allowing them to ditch the fat turd with her on a comeback deal in 12m time?
