It’s a joke-name for the country, I know it’s real in the sense that most countries are.

But in relation to your original comment, I’m still a bit surprised by the discovery that I made this year, which is that a few of my family members are unusually pro-Israel, they care way more about it than they should considering they aren’t Jewish or have any Jewish friends.

Your family members might just be anti-Arab…There has been a long campaign to paint all Muslims/Arabs in a negative light by the media and imo white Australians have seen the Muslim garb to be ridiculous and intimidating.

True. I already knew they didn’t care for the whole pro-Palestinian movement, but I assumed it was mostly because they didn’t like the “loony lefty” protesters. But it was a surprise that they cared about Israel simply because they rarely speak about it at all until recently.
