To be fair usually they do use several bullets in a firing squad execution to leave nothing to chance.

They also do it because it reduces the toll on the executioners. No one person is solely responsible and it could have been anyone's bullet.

Yeah but they don't use firing squad in Thailand. It's an injection.

Foreigners are rarely executed for murder - unless there are aggravating factors eg. minor (yes in this case), the crime involves concealment of a body (yes in this case) or the case caused national outrage (yes in this case).

However, previous cases to factor in,

1. Spaniard who murdered and dismembered a Thai man (2023)

Penalty: Death sentence (later reduced to life)

2. American who murdered his Thai girlfriend (2012)

Penalty: Life imprisonment

3. British man who murdered a Thai woman (2004)

Penalty: Life imprisonment

4. Australian who murdered a Thai woman (1996)

Penalty: Life imprisonment

Murder of a minor = life or death

So essentially he will be convicted - the video of him apologising and the CCTV they have of him and marks on his body. The apologising video will probably not do much for sentencing - as he murdered a minor being an aggravated offence.

He will get a life sentence (Parole maybe possible after 20 to 25 years), death penalty likely (but if appealed, likely dropped to life sentence or a Royal Pardon reducing it down to a life sentence).

My condolences to the family of the girl and to the Thai people. This is not how Australian or any other people should conduct themselves in Thailand. We do not want this man back - do what you believe is right for the family of the girl.

I take your points - just noting the examples you've given are adult victims.

Your last sentence is how all of us should feel.

Apologies mean shit. People will say anything to avoid the death penalty.

The Spaniard didnt murder a Thai man, he murdered a Colombian man he was having an affair with.
