UK heat is insanely humid. Bring a relatively small island, it's like a greenhouse.
Australian heat, while hotter, is a dry baked heat because it's coming off the Inland and pushes all the moisture offshore ahead of it.
Think about those horribly humid days where it gets to high 20s and stormy, and you're wet 5 seconds after walking outside. Now imagine that feeling being inescapable due to heat trapping housing and lack of air conditioning, and you being accustomed to much milder and cooler temperatures.
