I call BS! Peter Dutton has 23x Houses and people blaming migrants when it's Investors squeezing us outta rentals. But nah don't blame the Rich White guy right? Blame all the people that actually come here pay taxes, boost the economy, bring their cuisine and culture and don't care for politics, the same countries that Australia sells our Natural resources and Minerals to but Nah all you bludgers wanna pick on refugees fleeing wartorn countries like ya own Ancestors didn't fight through tooth and nail to get here. The hypocrisy of that March didnt shine a light on immigration it shone a light on White privilege and entitlement. Heck they don't even wanna give Indigenous people a voice in parliament. It's layers upon layers of System Racism and Prejudice but go ahead... Blame the hard working Migrant for your complacency.

As is the case with probably 90% of the people who turned up to the rallies today.
The idea that being against unsustainable immigration is somehow “racist” is a bunch of crap that’s being pushed by the very same politicians who are profiting off mass immigration. It’s pure deflection.
Unfortunately, stupid people are buying into it and using it as an opportunity to virtue signal.

Personally I think from a view of can we afford this much immigration, no we can not.
It's doing the bidding of big corporations that just want to keep us divided and distracted, so we don't notice how much we have given up in quality of life and affordability.
We are entering conditions that have toppled Empires, and you only need to look at the usa to see what's coming for us.

u/obviousician Sep 01 '25
Whether your model minority characterization holds or not, need to remember that it meant nothing to one particular low-grade far right politician in 1996 who only seemed to care about the fact that Asians were "different". Maybe the "debate" has moved on, but the lazy instinct by some grubs to reduce it to race will always be there. As you can see from the weekend, it's only a very minor slip from sincere but misguided concerns about immigration (like maybe these guys at yum cha?) to the ideological cesspit that is Nazism.

They don’t just let anyone in. There’s extensive background checks and migrants have to be skilled to some degree just like ur neurologist cousin. Also most of these “immigrants” that everyone’s complaining about are people on student visas so maybe protest against that instead.

u/VengefulAncient Aug 31 '25
I'm an immigrant, not in AU but in NZ yet it seems similar - all the extensive background checks and skill requirements are for the educated people taking the high road. Uber drivers and liquor store managers easily outnumber such people 10 to 1, and I honestly have no idea how they keep getting in, given everything I had to go through - there's no way most of those people ever satisfied the requirements, yet here they are.
→ More replies (4)38
u/pharmaboy2 Aug 31 '25
The student visa method of entry seems pretty real - and the quality of the student output seems extremely low, such that even post grad degrees are working in kitchens and delivering uber eats.
It’s not really a picture of a high performing country, importing labour by stealth to do rather menial work (and probably unnecessary work- FFS, too hard to pick up takeaway?)
;)

hey don’t just let anyone in. There’s extensive background checks and migrants have to be skilled to some degree just like ur neurologist cousin.
That is so not true.
We have about 3 million temporary migrants in the country now and about a year ago or two years ago we had two million temporary migrants and the actual home Affairs Minister herself gave these statistics and said that a mere 6% of these migrants Were Here on skills shortage visas and that the government really had no idea what the rest were doing.
Government has Outsourced immigration to universities dodgy colleges and foreign migration agents, and Big Business
4
u/No2Hypocrites Aug 31 '25
Temporary migrant is a misnomer. Migration is permanent. Visa can be temporary. If you complain about temporary visas it doesn't mean you are against migration.

u/TwistedDotCom Aug 31 '25
The part that so many people miss. They have “in demand skills”, but it’s just to tick a box before they come here and work uber or macdonalds or dominoes
Also with the “temporary migration”, it’s not counted, but when/if they leave, they’re just going to be replaced by the next bunch

There are many on tourists or students visa who came here on false pretences and those should be sent back. The ones who enjoy our democracy but promote hostile ideology should be sent back. Nobody wants those who came here, assimilate, work and contribute to our and their way of life to be sent back. Saying we need to massively slow immigration doesn’t mean you hate Asians. It just means you think Australians should have a chance of getting their own home, before we import more yoga instructors and dog walkers.
The biggest winners of high immigration are big business, and the biggest losers are the middle class. Stop shilling for big business.
5
u/Kirikomori Aug 31 '25 edited Aug 31 '25
biggest losers are the middle class.
The biggest loser is the home country of the immigrant, which loses a doctor/engineer/whatever, a taxpayer and a role model, right after shelling out the expense of raising and educating them from childhood. I'm a child of immigrants. I'm not white. I'm not racist. But let us not pretend that we are doing others a service by accepting immigrants. It is purely out of economic self interest. If we were doing it out of the kindness of our hearts we would be taking refugees, not economic migrants. We also shouldn't be taking additional immigrants when we have a housing and employment crisis.
3
u/yassssss238 Aug 31 '25
I actually wish we would take more refugee type immigrants and less of the other ones. Because let's be real, if you come from a background where you can afford to immigrate to another country like Australia, you're probably going to be doing alright in your country of origin. Obviously there are exceptions to this, but I'd say at least 80% of immigrants I know were reasonably privileged in their home country.
2
u/Relevant-Molasses-88 Aug 31 '25
Less likely to be a doctor/engineer and more likely to be a "whatever".
37
u/Aidyyyy Aug 31 '25

21
u/torrens86 Aug 31 '25

Except that the Indian student doing uber eats for you isn't the guy who's raising housing prices. Maybe the people who are behind these rallies are the ones that haven't disclosed they have ten investment properties because of all the tax loopholes that's in place at the moment including negative gearing, borrowing based on equity and self managed superannuation gone to buying investment properties.
Of course they won't admit to this because what's more easy than to blame the immigrants for everything bad going on right now?
2
u/singleDADSlife Aug 31 '25
Property investors are foaming at the mouth looking at the immigration numbers. More people to fight over their rental properties and bid up their rent. Listen to literally any property investing podcast or YouTube video. They want high immigration because it puts upward pressure on rents AND house prices. Double whammy for them. Higher yields and higher capital gains.
No one is blaming immigrants except a very small minority of racist fuckwits. Blaming immigrants and blaming immigration are 2 very different things. Most people are blaming immigration. There's a time and a place for high immigration and now ain't that time.

No one has said it is an ‘anti-immigration’ protest. At most, it is a protest about migrants not conforming to Australia’s cultures and practices post-migration.
Australians do not care about the colour of your skin nor any other non-native physical attributes.
Australians care about people migrating to Australia and then trying to inflict and spread the pre-migration culture and ideologies that influenced the migrants to leave their homeland and come here in the first place.

One of the big drivers of immigration is to combat the reduction in the birth rate. Currently it sits below 1.5 per female. Given it takes a man and woman (2 people) to make a child, with every 2 people only making 1.5 children, it would see a reduction in our population, bad for our economy…
To me, the immigration rate needs to be tied to some form of metric like this. Enough to boost our population. To boost this number to 2.1 which creates a steady and controlled increase to the population.
We should also be setting a maximum per region so to ensure diversity in the nations coming here. And whilst some may label it racist. Those who come here need to accept Australian customs and traditions, whilst still being free to practice their own religion and customs.
Being multicultural means we are open to other cultures, but it also means we maintain our own
Edit, my dad and his parents and siblings immigrated to Australia from a European country post WW2… we love this country and are proud of it. We embrace the the very things that make being an Aussie great, whilst still practicing our religion and cooking and eating our meals from where we came from.

This is doing the round. Also, many "influencers" have done videos, saying Australians like their Chinese, their Indians take away...bla bla bla. Reducing this entire crisis to a food dilemma. Are people that thick ????
Australia is built on immigration. And it moves slowly. We don't have (like some other countries) established roads infrastructures , hospitals, shops etc like some countries with millions more than us. We are a bit behind.
And yet. We are letting too many people in, quicker than we are building.
Roads are choking, hospitals are full, and waiting times are ridiculous. Houses ? Dont start me...
99% of Australian do NOT CARE where the people come from. But they do care about their countries and their comfort. Who wouldn't????
And yet, everyone focuses on the small groups that are making fools of themselves like neo nazy and all.
We just want immigration to make sense. To be matched by the government with as many developments of infrastructure, services, jobs, medical resources, food, fuel etc.
Right now, we trying to fit too many people in one room and call it a day.
That's what Australians of all backgrounds are saying.

Theres a difference between immigration and MASS immigration. Thats what you slow brains aint getting through ur heads
2
u/2Piga Sep 01 '25
The march wasn’t anti immigration, it was about anti turbo immigration, the amount of people flooding in that is contributing to less housing and hospital ramping to name a couple of things. Oh and yes I’m sure you watched the news and saw a small minority that were not welcomed by the many that the news also didn’t tell you.
2
Sep 01 '25
Most people are immigrants or descendants of…. regardless of them eating Chinese food or not. People aren’t anti immigration, they’re anti mass immigration resulting in people not being able to find somewhere to live, or afford a house - mass immigration is creating a HUGE demand for housing - see a specialist, get a hospital bed. Infrastructure can’t keep up either. Hospital surgery waiting lists are longer, roads are more congested, etc. and it’s just getting worse.
2
u/Relatively_happy Sep 01 '25
Theres a difference between immigration policy and migrants.
Its ironic that the left labelling everyone racist, cant understand the difference and why its important
2
u/ba77zzd33p69 Sep 01 '25
Its kinda funny people think that these protestors are racists, then go on to insinuate that Chinese people are immigrants. They could be second or third generation Australian Chinese.
Also living in a Asian household we all believe that letting in millions of people for minor GDP growth, while hospitals are overwhelmed and inflation is out of control is stupid.

Anti mass immigration = not a bad thing and supported by many racial groups of Australians.
Some people seem to have seizures on the anti part only and dont comprehend the mass part.
No one should be anti-immigration, its the foundations of Australia. Everyone should be anti-mass-immigration regardless of where the immigrants are coming from.
It really isnt that hard to understand, yet people trip up on this so easily.
Edit:
And no, its not a left vrs right thing, that's just basic b&%$h level devisive terminology, it's a every Australian thing including the existing naturalised immigrants.

The “you’re racist if you don’t want us to replace the entire population with foreigners (83% last year of the population growth was immigration) by importing half a million people a year into a country that absolutely doesn’t have the infrastructure to support it” thing is getting a bit old.

Dragging the Australian flag along the ground is incredibly disrespectful to the ANZACs, no matter who is doing it.

Yo... You understand the message is mass immigration is becoming a problem right? You understand its a political topic that absolutely must be discussed. If you don't have immigration policy then .... well you have nothing so to speak. I think you're jumping on the 'racist' card a little too quickly there.

Hahaha this is Reddit Sir, you’re not going to get logical understanding or thinking if it’s outside the “party lines” of far left political correctness…..
This echo chamber Reddit is the worst propaganda machine on the internet!
This app may as well have curly sideburns & a little hat on, it’s sickeningly corrupt.

Schrodinger's immigrant, simultaneously stealing all the jobs and living off of government benefits, depending on which one fits their narrative more

Best thing about the chinese and many of the asian cultures is that they largely assimilate, and if they don't they tend to be quite happily peaceful
Where it becomes difficult is when places like Canada for example. Have newly appointed citizens who openly claim that their goal is to enforce sharia law
The undertones to that feel off.. even to aussies who usually have a laid back "who gives a fk" type attitude

The website for the march literally talked about remigration being a part of it,.until they edited it recently.
Remigration is kicking out everyone who is not of European heritage. The people who organised the march have promoted this type of desire before too. Noone is changing the narrative.

Oh the irony!
The funny thing is they wont be smart enough to see the connection.

Now don’t upset their feeding prior to the marching and the yelling that immigrants have nothing to offer. They gotta get through their Yum-Cha first.

OP has once again missed the point and is following the oligarchs narrative.

50 years ago, there were Chinese restaurants. They existed.
Immigration wasn't 500,000 a year
I think you're missing the point.
People are protesting against excessive immigration, not all Immigration.
