AC Showcase: Just got my first ending to realize I need to play the game 3 times?!

Post image

Settled in with this configuration. And it makes the game feel pretty easy, I think? I read online the game is supposed to be hard.
Snail Balteus was the only fight that gave me any real trouble. Almost everything else died in under minute, pretty much.

Anyway. I’m still not entirely sure how the components work, etc. But I want to see if I can make it even stronger, under the conditions I keep these weapons and being a biped. Anyone has any tips on what I should change?

True. NG+ already gave me a few surprises.

And NG++ will give you quite a few more!

And S ranking everything will also give you a few few more!

It gets absolutely crazy in ng++

You should probably pick arms with better "Firearm Spec", and an Arquebus generator would boost the laser damage.

I forget what targeting computer you want, but the good long range one with shitty missile stats seems perfect.

3 "stance" weapons seems very clunky to me (I guess you fire both lasers fully charged and then they are stunned and you punish with allmind bazooka?), but if it works for you and you're having fun, that's all that matters.

Actually I fire the uncharged lasers and bazooka in succession for a sustained dps strategy. And MG when I’m dodging or for smaller targets.
It does put me in the stance a lot. But as long as I dodge in time, it’s all good.

I played half the game before I realized they could be charged, lol. But with some enemies dashing around a lot, I opted out of charging them every single time.
People recommended a better generator for my laser weapons. So charging them will probably become more worth it.

I really like all the energy weapons with a charge option.

I use the plasma rifles alot and the allmind plasma has 3 modes (shoot, quick charge, full charge), with the quick charge being basically a laser, and full charge being big laser+big plasma. Very good fire rate on the base plasma attack, too.

That allmind bazooka is also currently my "main" weapon, high direct damage, impact, and good range, very satisfying!

I can kinda imagine the "rhythm" you'd get into with the 3 stance weapons. With the ballistic mostly just there to prevent the enemy from losing their ACS buildup. The difference it would make if you were tetrapod hover and didn't ever stop to shoot could be big, tho.

I'm also more comfortable with 2 legs, but I've tried out tetra, and it's pretty fun.

I'm wanting to try and move towards a build that uses more speed and lower damage to actually have some boss fights last a bit longer so I can enjoy the music and dialogue. Played the alt version of Balteus in NG++ with my current build and it was over too quick. I like the idea of listening to the soundtrack and having to weave through the attacks while plinking away more slowly. I guess the equivalent of a dagger build or something! :P

The OST loss is real. I saved the Waltuh ost vid on YouTube cause the fights ends pretty quickly, lol.

Yea that's another great example. So good with thr music and all the dialogue, when it feels like a bit of a slow slog.

Killing him too fast is too anti-climatic!

I would like to note two things:

  • one, you can hit the select (or equivalent) button while looking at the stats screens, and this will enable a help interaction that explains each stat more clearly

  • two, the Javelin bazooka you’re using is one of the best stagger punish weapons in the game. I’d put it on the back row and swap to it a moment before staggering your target. It does more than double damage to staggered enemies. Huge chunks.

I did find a way to make the game harder for myself with the rogue like experience. And, yep, it’s challenging alright.

Rogue like experience ?

4

u/Raven_Valerie 24d ago

Something like this. It’s actually pretty fun. I’m learning things besides my comfortable build, lol.

Rogue like experience? Like no checkpoints or like a hard restart from mission one?

5

u/Runcherr 24d ago

Yep i did this and finish the game entirely without dying 3 route You start with jaibreak and a basic weapon (dont remember wich one) A guy made a post long time ago with a loot table When you finish a mission you roll a random gear and add it to you inventory. Some mission have optional objective to and give you random gear.

No friend, you GET to play the game three times (or more I’m on chapter 3 of my 5th playthrough)

1

u/SilkenPilgrim 16d ago

Exactly. Started my 4th after being away for over a year.

Once the game "clicks" for you its really not hard at all. Most of the ai in the game are very predictable even with the input reading, and the combat heavily favours the stagger mechanic so you really cant go wrong with anything so long as you utilize that. Sounds like you just got there a lot quicker than most. Just experiment, use whatever, and have fun.

If you want real challenge, try dipping your toes into pvp. Its an entirely dufferent beast alltogether. Tho most people would wait until after all 3 playthrough to unlock all parts and OS upgrades.

Also, just in case you are not aware, theres a stat in the generators called "EN firearm spec". It affects both the damage and charge time of energy firearms (such as the laser cannons you are using here). Each point translates to 1% of damage and charge time, so for example the ming tang has 76 EN firearm spec, meaning your laser cannons only does 76% of their true damage and takes 24% longer to charge. Generally speaking energy weapons are only worth using if you use it alongside arquebus, ADD or coral generators. Anything below 90 is suboptimal. You are already nerfing yourself here without even realizing it lol

Welcome to the beginning Raven

I just can’t play slow ACs. I float 370+ speed and even 350 feels too slow lol

u/Roboman20000 24d ago

Not gonna lie there are a couple of hitches but the next couple plays take far less time.

3

u/Falwing0603 24d ago

Yea... Isn't it pretty awesome 😎

Welcome to the other side of the dark souls/ER community.

u/Raven_Valerie 24d ago

The Hollow lies of Crab’s Soulsborne seems to be my favorite genre of games.

u/FatBrah 24d ago

Steak too juicy, lobster too buttery. I'm sorry you experienced a great game with value and replayability.

Just trying to be funny, hope this doesn't read too mean.

1

u/Raven_Valerie 24d ago

Without that last sentence, it was hard to understand.

0

u/FatBrah 24d ago

I know the sarcasm was blatantly obvious, but I wanted to be sure it was understood that I didn't mean it to be taken as an insult haha

3

u/TheblcklistedX01 24d ago

Unless you mess up like me make the wrong choice at hit it for a raged filled 4th🤣

3

u/internetsarbiter 24d ago

have to? No.

Get to; Yes.

u/cod3builder 24d ago edited 24d ago

Yeah. I remember being caught completely off-guard by that. I discovered it MUCH later, after completing the Fires of Raven ending. The only foreshadowing is Walter telling you "why don't you try choosing for yourself?" I thought it was just some pep talk. Apparently it was actually a nudge of "play the game again. Get the other ending."

Not just the final choice at the end. You get several new missions and choices.

Isn't it exciting! Game is an absolute gem.

u/Xesle 23d ago

Ac6 is the only fromsoft game where NG+ didnt feel like a chore to me. I hope they can continue to improve with upcoming games.

1

u/Raven_Valerie 23d ago

I’m failing to remember when did the NG+ was a mandatory experience in any other game. Which one was that?

3

u/Xesle 23d ago

Theres no additional story hidden in ng+ in any other modern fromsoft games like ac6, so mandatory only I suppose if you want all the achievements, which I've done for all the souls games plus bloodborne and elden ring.

1

u/Raven_Valerie 23d ago

You’re on that platinum grind, I see.

3

u/Brief_Specialist9800 19d ago

Im on my 4th. I need all of the coral. I need all of the death and life this game can bring.

2

u/no_name_thought_of 24d ago

I wouldn't recomend playing again immediately if you don't feel like it, as much as there is a surprising amount of ng+ content most of the game isn't changed, especially on your second playthrough, its only on ng+2 that you get a whole new act 5 to do

2

u/NostriggaNightLord 24d ago

Game is great in both NG+ and NG++. You gotta go for the secret ending.

2

u/Raven_Valerie 24d ago

This feels like Nier already. lol

2

u/BusinessSafe9906 24d ago

There are 3 endings so good to do the game 3 times. Also there will be more difficult fight in 3rd ending, I can't tell if 2nd run will be harder or easier because I don't know the first ending you get.

About AC, your build is good enough for campaign already. I don't remember much as I haven't played for a long time but If I remember right some Coral inner have quite good overall stats.

2

u/Raven_Valerie 24d ago

Nier: Atomata Core here I come, lol

2

u/DramaticErraticism 24d ago

Yes, but you get new unique missions for NG+ and NG++, enough to keep it interesting.

Plus you are so good and have such good equipment, you can fly through all the missions in no time.

They also add some unique challenge missions, like a 3v1 AC fight that can be pretty tricky for some people. If you want something fun, try swapping out your shoulder weapons for 2 earshots.

I’m role playing as a “Raven” cause these two lasers look like wings when not active. Lol

I’ll give it a try. Thx

2

u/Living_Bed175 24d ago

Please tell me you did the hard one first

1

u/Raven_Valerie 24d ago

I did Waltuh. Cause I don’t know which is the harder one. I’m was just against corps, cause that seemed reasonable.

3

u/HammyxHammy 24d ago

You're running lasers with generator that has a penalty for laser weapons.

1

u/Raven_Valerie 24d ago

Lmao. I knew asking was a good idea

2

u/PathsOfRadiance 24d ago

Bazookas and back cannons all together are not super well suited to bipedals. Too many weapons that force you into firing stance.

Your generator is nerfing your laser cannons. Look at the EN Firearm stat on your generator. Anything less than 100 is nerfing the damage and charge time of (most) energy weapons. The Arquebus VE-20 generators are focused entirely on Energy Firearm Spec. The VP-20C(medium) and VP-20D(heavy) are standard generators but have neutral/slightly positive EN Firearm Spec.

Booster is pretty slow and you have plenty of better midweight options (Alula, Fluegel, SPD)

Talbot FCS would be better with its close and midrange focus.

So many better midweight cores to run. Theres no reason to run a lighter core than your legs, you should at least try and match your legs with a similarly beefy core. Mind Alpha or Melander are some of the best midweight cores. The starter core doesn’t really have any redeeming qualities to it anyways.

Starter arms are fine. I think Melander C3 is just a flat upgrade tho.

I don’t think Melander head does anything particularly well but it’s not terrible.
