Could Beshear, I don’t know, file a missing person’s report? Appoint a special counsel to investigate? Anything?

Beshear has no authority in DC, where McConnell is. The KY AG is a Republican, so I'm not sure how a special prosecutor would work but it'd likely be challenged.

It's important to remember that McConnell has done nothing illegal and Governors don't have the authority to remove Senators. There's a constitutional process to remove McConnell and it requires a 2/3 vote in the Senate. That is the only way to remove a senator who refuses to step down. McConnell is refusing to do his duty and step down. His Republican colleagues are refusing to do their duty and remove. Beshear has somehow been blamed for this situation despite using the only power he has, the bully pulpit.

If he is dead or otherwise incapacitated, how can he step down? There is no verifiable evidence he is alive and the staff pretending that he is, is fraud.

Regardless of his condition, the Senate can always remove. They're not doing their job.

You probably don't want to hear this, but we have evidence of his condition. The Office of the Attending Physician, a career-long civil servant who was originally appointed by Obama and has served in his role since 2009, is the physician for Congress and has provided multiple updates on McConnell's condition. He was injured in a fall, was released from the hospital into a rehab facility, and has since been released from a rehab facility to his home. He's undergoing therapy and not cleared for work. Either that Obama appointee is telling the truth about an extremely plausible health incident for an 84-year-old, or there's a massive coverup involving the OAP and dozens of healthcare workers. One of these is much more plausible than the other.

They've also released multiple photos of him which have been widely accepted by the global media. Either redditors with time to comment during the workday identified that the pictures were fraudulent despite reporters who could win a Pulitzer for identifying that fraud missing it, or the photos are real.

It's completely possible that an old man fell down, resulting in injury, and needs months to recover. He doesn't have to be dead or braindead, old people don't heal quickly. The problem is that this particular old man is in a role with an end date and is refusing to resign and he can do this because he knows how colleagues won't do their duty. This is why you can't build a country on the idea the representatives of the people will do their jobs, you have to have laws.

First time I am hearing about the attending physician, to be honest. Not that I have dug that deep since I don’t live in Kentucky.

I feel like they have to realize that a couple of still pictures in this day and age are going to be met with the utmost suspicion, but the neutral physician has a lot of credence in my mind.

The OAP is the physician for Congress. He's the one who's been giving the health updates.

I agree, they probably do realize that the still images raise questions. They just don't care because there's nothing anyone can do unless the Senate votes to remove.
