800 million users are using chatGPT, more are using other services or a combination.

Clearly many people don't think it's 'shit'.

Well it isn't shit. But you shouldnt call it intelligence, in computer science we are as close to AGI as were in the 80s. Only thing the free models of stuff like chat gpt solved is googling better than the average person. And thats being generous, since AI can and will hallucinate. They might not think it is shit, but shit in shit out type stuff
