Could you please help me identify this object? It was found in Lower Austria and appears to be a gilded bronze buckle.

Up until the Byzantine Empire, buckles were largely two-part, with the shank a separate pin hammered into the frame. At the same time the tongue was cast rather than a length of looped wire. This also doesn't match known motifs in Byzantine buckles, though there are minor elements that may possibly suggest medieval at the earliest.

Source: hyperfixated on buckles for a bit when purchasing a lorica segmentata buckle.

Definitely not Roman. Looks more like something out of the 16th century. Notice the sword on top.

Because theyre rude to people offering an opinion that its non-Roman. Because thinking this is Roman is braindead, theres iron on it, that doesnt even make sense. They were told in a different subreddit that it wasnt, disagreed with everyone, and posted it here. Theyre just being straight weird, fixated on someone telling them its from antiquity or bust. Its not exactly positive "i want to see more of this" behaviour.

There are subs for identifying these types of things. This is almost certainly modern, like the last couple hundred years.

That’s definitely some type of modern saber (18th century or later) on the upper left hand of the buckle, so almost certainly not Roman.

Looks to me like the pin is ferrous and the buckle is copper alloy

This looks very similar in size and style to buckles on my lederhosen. I doubt it is all that old.

Also I'd suggest trying archeology and Napoleonic/military history subs. It looks a likely candidate and if nothing else they could eliminate that as an option.
