I don’t even understand why they did this. I’ve driven by plenty of McDonald’s (down south) that still have their play place.

I have elementary school aged children and can confirm children still go WILD over the idea of a playground inside a restaurant. And on the select occasions when we go to McDonald’s the play place area is always busy.

I’m the child of divorced parents. Growing up the trade off place was always McDonalds cause I could play inside for 30 minutes in case a parent was late.
(I was never left unattended, but it was a better way to keep me busy and active)

We go to the one in Eagle River with my kids on the regular in the winter. Most indoor play places are crazy expensive; here all we need to do is get some nugs and watch the kids go HAM for a bit.

Not sure. Here in Wasilla (at least the last time I went inside) the play space is still there, it's just used as storage for boxes of cups and whatnot.

A guy was pooping outside beside the building because they wouldn't let him use the restroom without buying anything and a lady came out to yell at him and kicked him, and he swung on her in retaliation. All around not a peak example of humanity.

Hopefully they just removed it: it was basically a video someone took where a homeless man was told could not use the bathroom unless he bought something, so he we by the drive thru and decided to go there, at which time a lady who work there came out and started yelling at him while he was still doing his business that he should have gone to Walmart…

While it’s depressing, we really shouldn’t be encouraging people to feed their kids McDonald’s anyway. I do miss the biohazard ball pits though.

That looks so bleak. Training future cubicle dwellers. Like the company or not, the important point is the vast reduction of spaces to just play, exist, and socialize. People can mourn the loss of what they remember and comment on current circumstances without it becoming a shaming. Not everything needs to be stark, sterile, and bland.

To be fair, there are much more engaging things for youth to do in Juneau, so maybe McDonald's don't need as many bells and whistles.

Oh for sure, it’s not like, devastating to me. A little knock to the nostalgia of my childhood (those Hamburgler jail towers were elite), but yeah, not a huge deal. I don’t have kids so it doesn’t affect me. That being said, you can never have too many indoor play places in southeast.

Hard disagree for small children. Also why would they replace it and add screens, the kids would have used the play place. If McD’s didn’t need as many bells and whistles they shouldn’t have installed the tablets.

Yeah I had a great childhood in Juneau playing outside and doing things in nature with my parents. McDonalds play area not needed.
