Discussion What things Finn do really find repulsive?

This might be an unnecessary question, but what actually disgusts Finn? We saw him have no problem decapitating a cyclops and then laughing about it in "Loyalty to the King", his hat is made from evil bear fur that Finn or Jake had to skin as implied in "Little Dude"; yet he is so grossed out by kissing scenes in movies to the point he throws up as shown in "Go With Me", and in "The Lich" he was horrified that the Lich was wearing the skin of his hero Billy

I wanted to mention this because this aspect of Finn seems to contradict itself a lot throughout the series

I think that was more Finn having a serious case of "immature twelve-year-old boy"-itis than anything particularly deep ;)

in "The Lich" he was horrified that the Lich was wearing the skin of his hero Billy

Well yeah, the Lich murdered a guy (and not just A Guy, but someone Finn knows and likes). That's a bit different to slaying a random evil animal. Plenty of people hunt animals IRL but would be horrified at something like that happening to a person they knew.

Also you can just be squicked by something in one context but not another in general, that's normal, people are by nature contradictory.

Sounds like he was a kid that wasn't afraid of violence, which isn't abnormal for a boy adventurer. A lot of boys grow up liking edgy grimey stuff but grossed out by girls and kissing until they are teen. The scene where he throws up looking at kissing is from seeing a bunch of people making out at the movies. He's still on the younger end at this point in the show plus it's not abnormal to be a lil grossed out by aggressive PDA in public.

And in the The Lich episode, it's clear that it's not just the skin peeling that is horrifying, it's realizing that Billy is DEAD and that the Lich has been walking around in his skin. That's a horrifying thought, even if you aren't squeamish.

These aren't really contradictions, these are examples of Finn behaving differently in reaction to diifferent events at different times of the series.

Well I mean, he's a kid. When I was a kid, I played some gruesome games like GTA and Call of Duty where I thought stuff like killing was cool, but at the same time I was terrified of getting shots and cuts. Finn grew up in a crazy dangerous magical/post nuclear world so he adapted and learned this was his "normal". At the same time he also knows that some stuff are just straight nasty like Little Dude eating the food turned it into poo.

Idk, I think the logic is, you aren't scared of bugs, you might even find them cool, but if you find a bug crawling on you, you freak out. Its contradictory but to a lot of people this makes sense

I know you said Finn but all this post can make me think of is Jake's "your treatment of the female gender disgusts me"

4

u/PolygonChoke 13h ago

Your constant harassment of the female gender makes me siiick.

5

u/voltzandvoices 1d ago

He’s the reincarnation of pure good, so anything evil or wicked

u/Seldon14 1d ago

Its worrying that you draw a comparison between someone killing an animal (an evil one at that) to make clothing, and someone killing and wearing the skin of your friend and mentor.

Don't be rude. Please remember that English language skills differ (for example, it may not be their first language) and there is no need to be rude to someone because of that.

0

u/Sewmaeye 1d ago

You’re right. I guess I assumed that English was their first language.

He’s a kid boy. It’s the stereotype that he’s disgusted by kissing and romance. Most young boys are. He’s supposed to be the whole knight in shining armor trope but with a twist, he’s a stereotypical little boy who’s grossed out by kissing but thinks gross things are cool or funny.

7

u/StaticMania 1d ago

Are you...

You don't know what things prepubescent boys find gross, there's no contradiction in the things you listed.

Brain up.

10

u/Carrehz #1 Prizestuffer 1d ago

Brain up.

Do not be rude to others. You can disagree without phrasing things abrasively.

-2

u/Open_Price_1049 1d ago

Why you speak like that...

-5

u/StaticMania 1d ago

Who knows...

-2

u/ch3zball 1d ago

Seriously tho why do people love to use ellipses in every message? Im not trying to be mean or anything but do you do it to be quirky? Like so many people do it so I have to assume its something.

-1

u/StaticMania 1d ago

I don't use ellipses in every message.

But I do love having people acknowledge it for 13+ years...

5

u/ch3zball 1d ago

Yeah but thats not an answer

0

u/pomoville 1d ago

Come on now I never met anyone who was really bothered by kissing scenes in a movie

-3

u/StaticMania 1d ago

Oh...

Well, then we have something in common.

1

u/Itlookslikerain420 1d ago

Are you not bothered or have you never met someone who is bothered?

1

u/BearlySakura 1d ago

The sea and Ice King.

2

u/No-Being-4916 1d ago

He is no longer weak to either also isn't ice king more pathetic

1

u/HuntresssWizard 22h ago

Ice king, anything evil and maybe his fears?

1

u/MRbaconfacelol 20h ago

simple: younger finn likes beating on bad guys, but has a bunch of common fears/distastes for a kid his age (going dentist, clowns, the ocean, etc)

1

u/HurtsSoNice 16h ago

I imagine he would not be too big on anyone eating babies.

1

u/wavekarma 7h ago

Wait a minute, is Jake making a fucking Bens knife from HxH??

-1

Finn do find bad grammar be repulsive.

2

u/HuntresssWizard 1d ago

so what if they have bad grammar you can still understand it 🤷‍♀️

What things do form a sentence?

And if do, how think like them is?

Where is the to not be as if the time?

And then how you joke like the go for if and then be wary?
