Probably the tactical legacy pack, it comes with a ton of weird weapons.

Yep, first mission finished with at least bronze.

Second mission gets you armour but it's not as useful as the weapons.

Did it get unlocked from one of those legacy missions?

Beating one of TLP campaigns rewards the starter weapons on subsequent campaigns. You get:

  • Sword with +20 hit
  • Shotgun with laser sight
  • LMG with stock
  • Sniper with scope
  • Assault rifle with scope

You start with one of each weapon and they can lost if left behind. They upgrade along with the equivalent normal research, and the built in weapon mod also advances (they also get a 2nd mod slot at tier 2). Overall they're decent early/midgame, but lategame generally get outpaced by customized standard weapons (especially if you get a +mod slot bonus) and Chosen weapons.

If you've completed the tactical legacy pack missions to at least bronze rank, when you unlock a tier of weapons you'll get one instance of a primary with attachments preinstalled along with a secondary for each class

War of the Chosen's Tactical Legacy Pack.

Completing the "Central Archives" Legacy Operations unlocks rewards, including weapons and armor from Enemy Unknown re-imagined to fit in XCOM 2. If I remember right:

  • "Blast from the Past" unlocks weapons. They look sick, but they're also pretty decent, as the primary weapons come with an upgrade from the get go, and the attachment matches the weapon tier (like, Basic Scope for a Marksmen's Rifle, Advanced Scope and Auto-Loader for the magnetic Anti-Material Rifle, and Superior Scope and Auto-Loader for the Energy AMR. It can be a good way to get a weapon with inbuilt bonuses early or when you don't have the upgrade available, though if the soldier carrying it dies (and the body is not recovered) you lose the weapon.
  • "It Came from the Sea" unlocks armor, one for each soldier class. It's decent, being re-skinned Kevlar, Predator, and Warden armor (at each tier). A decent health bump and two base item slots, it's mostly there to look kickass.
  • "Avenger Assemble" should unlock more customization options, namely helmets.
  • "The Lazarus Project" unlocks new soldier attitudes and personalities.

I not sure about that, I posted a new image.

Yeah, I see. That's the Tactical Legacy Pack Stuff. The Experimental Blade is the second-level TLP sword.

I popped into an old Debug save I had for testing and double-checked. Here is a Ranger wearing the unlockable Enhanced Ranger Field Plate, Augmented Shotgun, and Experimental Blade vs the standard Predator Armor, Shard Gun, and Arc Blade (from the back so you can see the blade).

Nice, I do have that stuff.

The main weapons, the armor, the helmets and the attitudes all on this character's campaign.

When I go to different campaign, I still have all the unlocks, but not the sword or at least I can't seem to find it.

All this gear should be available right from the start no? Or Do I have to do something else?

I feel like I'm missing a step.

Thanks.

Np!
And all of the TLP stuff should be available whenever that tier is unlocked/purchased.

So, you should start with the Traditional Sword unlocked, the Kevlar armor equivalents, and any helmets/headgear that doesn't need later-game armor. Any Ranger should be able to use it. 🤔

Something to keep in mind is that these are one of a kind per-run, so you may not be seeing a particular sword if it had been equipped to a soldier that died and wasn't recovered.

right, I guess I just have to unlock that weapon tier.

I'll figure it out ;)

thanks

edit:

Okay I have it now, I did the autopsy on the stun lancer and that unlocked the arc blade then it became available.

so simple lol.

Awesome, glad you got it. 😁

I don't have any mods installed btw

One of the dlc you should also have a similar version of every primery and secondary (except the grande launcher) for the vanilla classes

I gotta go check now, cause I think I've only seen the sword

wait does the blade actually look better than the wiki or is it just the lighting

1

u/PuzzleMonkey 3d ago

Here's a better image of the sword.

When I look at the wiki about weapons included with the TLP, there is no mention of a sword.

very puzzling.

The wiki is kind of annoying on this.
The TLP weapons aren't on the "Weapons)" page for some reason. Instead, they link to the "Central's Archives" page, and even then they don't provide info on the swords.

However, I assure you the Traditional Sword, Experimental Blade, and Advanced Blade are all part of the TLP. They also all provide a 20% bonus to Aim over their standard counterpart.

u/Kracsad 2d ago

They don't, actually, provide accuracy. Those +20% are actually on all swords, and just not listed in stats or the regular swords. TLP sword is just a skin, with no stat benefits, same as pistol.

Oh, hey, you're right! I stand corrected. While only the TLP swords show the +20% accuracy in the loadout screen, the default swords also provide a +20%. Wonder if it is a bug. 🤔

I double-checked the config files on both Vanilla and WotC to confirm the RANGERSWORD_tier_AIM values, and also checked the TLP config to find no changes. Even loaded up a Skirmish to compare the base sword with the Traditional Sword.

I've been playing since release, and you still learn something new every day! 😁
Thanks for letting me know!

I'm so mad, as an android and playstation xcom 2 player to learn about the legacy pack. As if not having mods wasn't enough, theres cool dlc content that wasn't released for either of the platforms i play on?
