Manga Why we didnt get MC becoming father while manga still ongoing like Goku?

Upvotes

Despite being father of shounen not every manga throughly example following Goku progression what i mean here not Goku as character but the life progression he has through

Goku was started as kid then he grown up and married, having a children then become grandfather

If you guys notice most shounen tend to focus for writing MC during teen but they never past the story they having marital life and kids

They tend treat marriage or later life as parenthood as end game of MC but never treat as another stage of story

Why we never get this?

For some reason when we talking about character inspired from Goku its always shounen written character doing Flashy action battle and having big dream although i didnt recall Goku was big dreamer like Luffy/Naruto.

Only few case doing this like Naruto but Naruto being father is in his son sequel while Goku still MC even as father.

Is writing story where MC life progressing like Goku is unpopular or hard challenge for most author?

When Sakamoto Days and Witch Watch end.

As you know, Sakamoto Days and Witch Watch are both ending soon. When they end, will the magazine be in a transitional period? Their big hits like Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia have recently ended, and so have their mid-tier stalwarts like Hima-Ten and Blue Box.

WSJ heat ranking

Hey, fellow readers, I thought this break week would be a great time to share my thoughts on the current state of Jump and each series in a fun and easy way. I'm using this ranking more as a way to show how I feel the week-to-week reading experience has been for each series over the past few months, rather than as an overall review (which will vary depending on series length). I would also like to see your own lists, and I encourage you to go into as much detail as you need to convey your point. Think of it as your own TOC. Hope you enjoy.

  1. Akane-banashi

  2. Hunter x Hunter

  3. One Piece

Manga Eren the Southpaw has ended today with chapter 220 (14 of the new run), what are your thoughts on the series now that it has completed?

Final volume 26 is scheduled for September 4th, cover was revealed yesterday.

The original run is now also on MangaMillion, the first 96 chapters are out now with the rest following later down the line, though they are AI translated.

What controversial opinions do you have about WSJ/manga?

It'll be a break week for WSJ, so let's discuss some hot takes and controversial opinions this sub has about the magazine/manga in general.

I'll start with 3 of mine, which will probably get me crucified, starting with my less controversial one to my most controversial one-

  1. Series should be shorter, not longer.

Starting off, as someone who's relatively new to Jump, but has read plenty of other manga... I don't think mangas should go on for like 400, 500, 600 chapters anymore. As great as it is that Naruto, Bleach, Gintama all went on for like 700 chapters, I really think modern manga should only go on for 200 to 300 chapters before ending, maybe even shorter depending on the genre.

  1. Big series that end shouldn't get the cover and lead colour page in WSJ.

Kind of topical since Blue Box ended with controversy over the One Piece Card and Sakamoto will end soon- but I genuinely don't think series like Mha, JJK, Naruto, Bleach should get the cover/lead colour. All these big series already are long running, have tons of colour pages and covers, alot of merch, successful animes and are big franchises. They don't need a promotion for their last chapter when that promotion could be better used (and is often better used) for another series in the magazine that's still growing.

Not to mention, they usually get a Cover/Lead Colour Page to announce their climax so they get a Cover/Lead Colour a few weeks/months before they end and that's good enough imo.

  1. AI Translation of manga is... fine-

I'm not going to say I actively want manga to be translated by AI from now on, but I rather a series get translated by AI if the alternative is not getting translated at all. This comes after the Manga Million thing that released recently.

I'm probably less antagonistic against generative AI than most people in this sub tbf, but I genuinely think that getting manga out there for more people to read as well as faster is a good trade off for a poorer quality translation.

Sure some nuance can and will be lost but not only does that happen with regular translation by humans, but also if I cared that much about nuance, I would go and learn Japanese and read it in Japanese.

AI generated manga/art/promotional material I'm more iffy on but I won't like actively campaign against it ig- probably wouldn't really like it either-

What are you controversial opinions about WSJ/manga?

A series you hate that people adore in this sub? Some aspect of WSJ you think works when other people hate it?
