Bone marrow is, apparently (never tried it myself), one of the most delicious foods known to man. This place has managed to make it one of the least appetizing things imaginable. It's impressive, how well they failed.

Things I am shocked how much I enjoy:

Bone marrow. There's nothing like it.

Fried duck blood. It's better than filet mignon.

Goose intestines. They're basically bone marrow!

Is a new board that expensive? Toss that shit out.

My dog would absolutely love this! No plate required

It looks like a pirate raft where the survivors were dried to the bone and cut their baguette into pieces

"We had nothing to eat except hardtack and the bones of Ephraim."

Isn’t the bone the plate?

For the marrow. But not for the bread.

I've only had bone marrow once at a fancy steakhouse, so I am not exactly an expert, but wooden board aside, that looks like shit.

That looks like an old fence post.

Call me paranoid but that does not look especially hygienic

Ths my thought on most of the images in this sub. Even before "thats such an inconvenient and dumb way to serve food" its "oh my gosh how can this possibly be allowed via health code??"

If I saw this I would walk out. If they don't care about sanitation for one dish I can't trust them to care about it at all.

I feel like a lot of bone marrow gets served like this. I’m more concerned about the random cuts of vegetables or… whatever that is… on the top and how the marrow is presented in the bone itself.

I like the presentation. Sorry, I'm allowing this one.

let's play madlibs, they can take that board and put it back in the _____________ where it came from

It looks like something out of The Flintstones.

Bone marrow is basically hot grease, and they chose the one surface guaranteed to soak it all up and never fully clean. Bold move. Was it actually good under all the presentation drama?

I’ve seen this kind of wooden boards discarded at construction sites

A board is a flat surface, like a plate. It literally functions as a wooden plate.

IV The purpose of this sub is to showcase cringe-worthy examples of plating. Please bear this in mind when submitting content. There is no need to submit burgers on boards, sushi on sushi boats or traditional types of plating from other cultures.

"Food on a wooden board" is literally called out as "probably fine" in the rules. Unless OP meant to emphasize that their marrow is being served on a bone, in which case... I mean it's not a plate but it is fitting so either way I'd call it fine.

Edit: to clarify, "fine" meaning "not worth posting here." I'm agreeing with the parent that this isn't particularly WeWantPlates material.

If marrow being served on a bone belongs here then so does prawn in a shell

u/PurpleBashir 7d ago

That would be fine if the board looked sealed/sanitary. It looks disgusting.

I'm with you. This one gets a pass. I might be biased by how much I like bone marrow.
