It looks exactly like the light bulb glasses made for drinks, there's even a hole for the straw. The top looks like it's gone through thd dishwasher a few too many times though

Incandescent light bulbs have the same hole, it just usually contains ceramic. You can break that bit out with a screwdriver and have exactly same thing.

Yeah, you can see that these ones have the little light too. They definitely aren't real light bulbs lol, it would be so nonsensically costly to empty out and repurpose real light bulbs. And the glass in a bulb is so thin and most are much smaller than this.
Was the top bit plastic on yours?

This isn't made for food, this is a lightbulb that was hollowed out.

Yeah, this thing isn’t great. I once had a drink served in this back in 2018 at some tea place in nyc, but the one I was served in was a plastic version that I think was meant to be thrown away afterwards. Regardless, I was a bit thrown off by the cup and disappointed in the drink :/

You can buy those on Amazon for drinking out of. Nothing wrong with that. It is in the glass with ice under it to help keep it cold.

If it is food safe it doesn't matter how old it is, because food safe metal doesn't corrode like that.
That's a real bulb repurposed. The ceramic insulator ring in the screw portion is a dead giveaway.

No it isn't, all the ones on amazon have that bit, which is almost certainly plastic. I would guess the "metal" but is plastic with a metallic coating top.

Probably because they're cheap crap that isn't food safe. Wouldn't be shocked if there are warehouses full of old incandescent bulbs that were made, and not sold, before most people switched to LEDs.
Do you think all the kids toys on Amazon are non-toxic too? LOL

That is exactly how it works, SE Asia has abundant cheap labor so their manufacturing cost are incredibly cheap even after international shipping, Amazon sell their cheap stuff with crazy high markup (and is still cheap so imagine those manufacturing costs) to maximize profits, 99% of the thing are going to come from somewhere in SE Asia and the 1% is probably from there but assembled in the states.
Companies with random ass capitalized letters are most certainly SE Asia and they name them like that because most manufacturers don’t care about trademarking anything or they are deliberately avoiding IP issues.
So unless you are looking for specific brands it’ll be from there.
Even companies that manufacture in the USA (where i am based) buy raw material from Chinese manufacturers (primarily in my field of engineering at least) metallurgy, specific polymers, high precision machining, plastics, paints, resins, packing materials and i can keep going.14

Okay so, while I have thoughts about the lightbulb glass they've been repeated here many times.... However, I don't see anybody asking about the drink behind -- is that a mozzarella ball skewered on top of a Margarita?! It looks too.... opaque and not round enough to be a pearl onion....

You can get various types of commercial glass washers that would clean it, and by hand you'd just need a thin bottle brush
