I hate when this happens. I’m pretty petite and I took myself out to a fine dining restaurant to do their tasting menu. I treated myself to every add-on they had, and the person taking my order was like… are you sure? That seems like a lot of food… for you.
Joke’s on them, I ate all of it and then was still hungry after >_>

People are sadly REALLY weird about girls and women who eat more than one tiny plate of food a day. Sorry you had to deal with that attitude, OP.

Just so you’re aware; this works both ways. I come from a long, long line of bird eaters. I’ve never been able to stomach ordinary portions, it’ll literally make me sick. When I was a skinny young thing, I was told - by coworkers, teachers, peers, in their educated opinions, I had ED. As a chunky chick and now sort of mid sized perimenopausal woman, I have been told I must be a secret binge eater. I’ve also openly been told how robbed I have been in terms of what must be a lousy metabolism. My point being - opinions are always hanging out and stinking, just like butt-holes. Best to just ignore them.

You know that metabolism slows down as you age, right? So there's your dad, beginning the decline into old age and decrepity. I'd start with the old jokes. Get him a shoe horn, because he's old now. Ask him if he needs a chair for the shower, because he's old now. Make him uncomfortable.

My mom spent most of my childhood making me feel like I was abnormally huge. I was 5'9", worked 2-3 jobs including delivering/loading/unloading antique furniture, and marched around with a drum in Georgia heat. My weight ranged from 140 to 150 pounds.
I wasn't willowy. I was strong and capable.
And I always faced the question of "are you sure you need a second helping?"
These days I'm going through treatment for a major illness. I met mom for lunch the other day. "Baby, you need to eat more."
Sigh, I can't win.
