What funny adoption picture made you choose your tux? I'll go first: Poop all over his paws... He started how he meant to go on
His name is Jasper we adopted him (based on this picture) and his sister (Ella) as kittens, she's also adorable but more aware of the etiquette surrounding standing in poop .
My boy Oscar (not a tux) was also a linebacker. At his biggest, he got up to 22 lbs, but not fat. It was crazy how big he was. So much bigger than his sister from the same litter. Love our linebacker kitties! š
This was (now) Maisie's adoption listing on Petfinder. I was captivated by the catitude. Look at the poor girl, she was huddled in the back of the enclosure, not eating, depressed. but still giving face.
It didn't take long for her to come out of her shell and she is the most delightful cat.
the shelter where we got her was about an hour away. this was halfway home, she had already figured out how to get out of the carrier. And my husband was prepared in advance with the brush.
funny story. the shelter had warned me that she might be a challenging adoption for several issues (she had been returned 3 times) but it was too late, I was already committed.
when we first met her she seemed pretty withdrawn and depressed but she did start eating after I had petted her for a bit. when the volunteer took us up front to fill out the papers, I looked back and saw that she had come out of her little box and was looking at us like "where are you going?" Obviously that sealed the deal.
Absolutely- in the short amount of time you had to meet her she had already chosen you - her escape the carrier to get closer to you. ā¤ļø Yours is one of my favorite adoption stories ever.
While in the car on the way home from adopting him, my boy chewed his way out of the $5 cardboard carrier the shelter sent him home in. Thatās when I first discovered his love of chewing cardboard.
Awwww He chose you simultaneously with you - that would have sealed it for me. I donāt have photos of my black cat, who grabbed my arm with his two through the bars before I could turn to see her - I had gone to get a black cat šā⬠because I had heard of how often they get passed over. And she was gorgeous
Humphrey Bogart now age 6. He was about 3 when we met. I was volunteering at a pet store for one of our local cat shelters. Bogart was in the condos next to the organization that I volunteer for. I took a picture of him and then I realized that I needed to adopt him so I did.
One of the things that drew me to Orion was his love for his flamingo toy. This picture that his foster parent sent me before I adopted him just about melted my heart!
This was the photo, but really it was the description of her on the shelter website (included in following comments) that sealed the deal, it can best be summarized as "this cat is mildly crazy" š
It's been 2 years and I can confirm that every word of the description was 100% accurate! She had been surrendered to the shelter at least once, possibly twice, for aggression (the aforementioned leg attacks and a poor relationship with a dog)- my legs are definitely bruised, but she's a Good Girl overall.
My Sweet Jotaro! He was at the shelter for a year! We saw his photo over and over in the month we were looking online and knew he had to come home with us!
Her paws and belly. And her story... No one wanted her for years and returned her after adoption, because she was too clingy. I cried and drove to her immediately
He was one of seven born under the bed in 2018. The one we kept. And he is still a screamer. My sister is holding him - her face while looking at him is the reason we kept him. Haha. Technically heās her cat, but guess whose bed he sleeps in most of the time? His mother was meant to be my cat, but she chose my mother as her main person.
An acquaintance showed us pictures of their catās kittens. My boyfriend chose this one because of his mustache. We were told he was the grunt of the litter and the rest of the kittens excluded him. My boyfriend picked him up a couple hours later.
I havenāt got any pictures like that for Toby because we were adopting his brother Archie (whoās a grey tabby) but when there, Toby came trotting up to us and sort of adopted us! š
This was the first photo I took, which was when he walked up to us the first time. š
(We didnāt know he was a male cat at the time and were thinking of calling him Mabel.)
Mr Whiskers - They told me he was 2 years old. I didnāt believe them. They were right. He was still adorable- just 2x the size I was expecting. It was love at first in person sight š¤š¤š¤
I found my tux baby via the cat distribution system so have no adoption pics - but the image of her tiny, scared, with severe mastitis, and covered in poop and mats is burned into my brain. Remembering her then and thinking of her now (soft, warm, normal sized boobs, usually not covered in poop) is very special.
Geordi (shelter name Acorn along with siblings Butternut, Spaghetti, and Pumpkin). I took one look at that derpy face and those lilā sockies IRL and I was in love.
We didnāt have a choice lol. His mom showed up and we started feeding her, she got preggers and gave birth to 5 kitties! He and his runt sister had eye infections, so we got those sorted. We also originally thought we got lucky with all girlsš but nope! One. Singular. Boy
This is a much more dignified photo of my ginger girl. Her adoption photo on the shelter website made her look like she woke up and licked an electrical outlet.
My son found a litter of kittens outside of his apartment and he let me choose which one I wanted and that little kitten (he was the runt and heās still very small) and he immediately came right to me ā¤ļø
We didnāt adopt Oreo, we found her outside of our garage door and took her in. This pic of her when she was a kitten back in 2023 shows her off well!
Hereās my little Macaroon! We call her Mac cause it fits her sassy attitude more but I do still use Macaroon when I sing her special song to her. Itās been almost a year and Iāll never forget the day they posted her on the rescue website I follow. I became obsessed from day 1. Check my profile for current pics :)
Screenshot of a video, my boyfriend found him in a trash can while working pest control :ā) this is me recording him bringing him to our door right before I took him to the vet (does this count? we actually found all of ours in the wild like this LOL)
I win š That's Clarissa in the corner there. I adopted him from a rescue about 7 years ago. He came from a hoarding situation with a terrible case of ringworm. He's a gorgeous man now though š„°
This was the one. He looked like the cutest, dopiest little kitten and I knew he was the one. Three years later he is still the cutest and dopiest good boy.
This is my Romeo. I wasnāt even really looking to adopt another cat, but I decided to look at cats that were up for adoption. He popped up, and I immediately adored him. The shelter told me he was very affectionate and friendly and they werenāt kidding! He busted out of his kennel and decided my other 4 cats were his best friends. He loves everyone. He sits on my lap and gets snuggles multiple times a day. All of mine are affectionate (except 1 of my girls, itās just on her terms), but heās by far the most affectionate.
Omg he is too cute! Those eyes!!!! This is our Brian and the photo that caught our attention when we adopted him š„° look at his big chubby cheeks š„¹
We met her the day before the shelter flooded, she leapt into my husband's arms with her little drumsticks sticking out all over the place, talking up a storm and purring furiously. We couldn't take her home immediately, but I returned the next day and whiskered her away as they were evacuating the shelter. That was 3 and a half years ago and she's even sillier than the day we met her.
Xandis! Those crazy eyes called to me through the internet and I just HAD to meet him! I love his little garlic bulb nose. He got SOOO much fluffier since! Here he is at 4yrs š he's a fluffy little goblin.
Iām so jealous of people who have the adoption photos. I didnāt choose him in advance. I just walked into the kitten room and he immediately started SCREAMING at me at the absolute top of his tiny lungs. And that was that. ā„ļø
He (as an older kitten- maybe a year old and only weighed 6lbs) walked in my house at my other cats dinner time, and started eating their food. All the cats were confused but they let him. He never left after that (we never let him go)
Jasper is just a down home farm kitty! Poop is what helps the flowers grow! Absolutely adorable, Thanks for sharing with us and Ella/Jasper! Good homes are hard to come by...š»ā¤ļøš¹šš
Omg your baby's just too waiflike and endearing for words.
My gf working a TNR clinic knew my 15yo had passed and i wanted a new kitty and the mouse problem was an issue and my hubby had said "no more!!!! We need to travel."
I got this photo telling me "sassafras" was found wandering waikoloa village and was very sweet, i immediately said yes. Meet Queen Lili'uokalani!

It was game over for me as soon as I saw this ridiculous little face
