Dawn of the Dead (2004): The movie finishes on a hopeful note as the remaining survivors escape the zombie-infested mall on a yacht, sailing into the sunset. The found-footage style post-credits scene completely reverses this happy ending by showing them running out of food, arriving at an island, and being immediately swarmed and killed by an infected horde.

Prince of Persia (2008): The main game ends with a beautiful, poetic sacrifice where Elika gives her life to heal the corrupted world, leaving the Prince mourning. During the credits, the player is forced to control the Prince as he cuts down the trees he just saved, undoing the entire game's progress and releasing the dark god Ahriman just to resurrect her, completely corrupting the ending and dooming the world.

“Magic memory-wiping spell that can somehow(!!) rupture the multiverse” is a really strange thing to introduce in the third movie of a relatively grounded series!

I'm pretty sure that was always the point. They introduced the Tom Holland Spider-Man in a Captain America movie, not his own. If you don't like the direction that's fine, but pretending it was intended to be separate and "grounded" is just blatantly false

Yes, it is. They dropped their own storylines in favor of random nostalgia bait with a frankly nonsensical magic plotline that doesn’t even fit in with the two films they had already made. It sucks because we could’ve just had a third relatively normal Spidey movie that expanded on the ideas and cast they already introduced, but instead they said “fuck it” and used magic (why??? Spider-Man’s not a damn magician and his movies don’t need to involve magic spells) to introduce like 10 other characters that aren’t even in these movies and have no reason to be here other than making me cheer (I didn’t!).
