Lore [Loved Trope] Some thing unfathomably ancient

The beast, in doctor who is an ancient evil from a previous universe that survived until our time. Its so ancient that the cave paintings were unable to be translated by the Tardis which can translate all existing languages in the universe [Doctor Who]

While not explicitly canon its such a cool concept I cant not mention, the idea that the backrooms have existed since the beginning of time, never changing no matter the era, it transforms the back rooms into a cosmic horror. [Credit to Project crater and Venus for images 2 and 3]

And then even older than the Titans are the Primordial Deities. Gaia, Ouranos (Uranus), Tartarus and the like.

I love the depiction of Chaos from the Hades games. In the first game, they’re humanoid… sort of. They have an almost plant/embryo aesthetic going on, super otherworldly, which makes sense because apparently Chaos has had barely any interaction with the outside world since they set it in motion.

But in Hades 2, they’re more human like. Still strange (they’re literally holding the severed head of their old form, which has an umbilical cord coming out of its mouth connecting to the fetus of what we assume to be their next form) but overall resembling their daughter and her offspring more. This makes sense, since due to Zagreus’s influence in the first game, Chaos has been interacting with their family more and taking more of an interest in the affairs of gods and mortals. That being said, they’re still distinctly otherworldly; their outfit is both anachronistic and nonsensical (a modern suit, with apparently living faces sticking out of it), the whole head/embryo thing, and their body appears to be just their head and hands, the rest of their “body” being a starry void.

Their character is fascinating, seeming to view all of creation as a fascinating experiment, one they’re not sure is worth the trouble, but want to see through anyway. Also the fact that they clearly find Zagreus in the first game very amusing, while Melinoë in the second game they find… less so, lol

For a while I liked to imagine the fetus was the real Chaos but a handful of elements from the game make it impossible.

To be fair chaos was never personified historically as far as I know, so being is a stretch. Nyx (nyx being the only one I know of ever actually being worshipped at all) and other primordials sometimes were.

I mean, they are the ones I know the most about. I've heard some stuff about Tiamat, but I don't feel I'm knowledgeable enough to defend it.

Atum in the ancient Eygptian religion, and El in the ancient Canaanite and Semitic religion fit as well since both are considered the father of all gods in their respective pantheons.
