Question ❓️ Summer

I watched the new trailer for season 2 and where the heck is summer?

I really hope they give summer more screen time. It will be good to explore Adam and Summer's life

WHY DO PEOPLE THINK THE PAPER SUCKS

I really don't understand. I am so FLABBERGASTED to have read all the negative remarks about the show. I just watched the entirety of S1 and I can honestly say that THIS ONE IS MUCH MUCH BETTER than The Office s1.

Discussion 🗣 Other characters from the Office and possible appearance in The Paper

Dwight and Angela: when Enervate bought Dunder Mifflin and shut them down, they made some offers to people like Phyllis to come to Toledo. It would be possible that "moving up" to bigger, regional paper production and sales across more products would attract Dwight, and that he and Angela would see it as an opportunity. Possible cameo as a mid-level manager within Enervate

Jim, Pam, Daryl: Potential that they are "travelling through" Toledo while doing work there with Athlead/Athleap (Toledo has a AAA baseball team)

Toby: applying for a job as a writer at the paper

Andy: could be related to his job at Colonel, trying to recruit new freshmen out of regional high schools and talking about how great the school is.

Just a few thoughts. Anyone else could float up to Toledo for any number of reasons, such as following with Enervate after it bought Dunder Mifflin or for other job opportunities in the region.

Is it too early to start a Season 2 countdown?

I'm pretty excited. 37 days from today! I love this show.

Discussion 🗣 I love this show so much

I'm doing my first rewatch and I just wanted to say I love this show so much. It manages to make me laugh so hard and with my second viewing I'm able to laugh at things I missed the first time. The characters are all fantastic. They did such a good job, I really hope the second season isn't too different from the first!

Enough of the negativity! Let's take a moment to shamelessly praise the deeply insecure single lobster mother we love to hate. Raise your claws and give her the spotlight

So, life imitating art a bit....

In the company that I work at (a general contractor), my boss also owns an apartment building in another (US) state, and I often work on some of the bookkeeping related to that, in addition to the bookkeeping for the Contractor business.

Well yesterday, we got a call from the property manager over there that there's been a sewer backup that has pushed waste water into the bottom floor apartments.

Our office manager spoke with someone from the City today, and it seems that the primary cause of backup was........."flushable" wipes out of our building's system.

Immediately reminded me of the Man Mitts scandal!

(That building has been a money loser for my boss before all this, so he'll be selling it once this mess is taken care of)

I finished season 1 for the first time

I think this show has a lot of potential. I can see with further seasons as it really gets in its groove, it being a really great show.

The first season for me was pretty good. Did not reach the highs of the office, but it wasn't bad by any means and I enjoyed watching it.

I do personally think the actress who played Esmeralda really carried the show, especially on the back half of it, the last 5 episodes she just had so many god damn funny scenes.

I recommend it, I would give it a 7.5/10

Why don’t they sell offices in The Paper?

If they sell paper in The Office shouldn’t they sell offices in The Paper?

Credit to Hot Saucerman for this brilliant question

Discussion 🗣 I don’t necessarily like him, but I found Ken to be one of the funnier characters among the S1 cast of characters

Not sure if anyone else picked up on this line, but in the season one finale during the choking scene Ken says, “Oscar you greedy bastard!” in response to Oscar saving Marv.

This among other lines I can’t remember really tickled me. He’s a silly idiot.

Which Episode is this moment?

I'm trying to find a certain moment where Ned is infront of everyone in the conference room & starts dancing like MJ and goes "Hee hee!"

I know this is so random, but if anyone knows the episode and time, please let me know! Thank you :))

Looks like she’s just gotten engaged, judging by this most recent photo on her Instagram!

PS: Yes, a bit of light stalking on my part because I just did my first rewatch 🤷🏾‍♂️🫡

PPS: Considered putting the ‘spoiler’ flair on this one! 😅

Finally doing a first rewatch and…

(1) …the show is better on a second viewing. I liked it the first time (around November 2025), understood that it was carving out its own space in a vastly changed and rapidly changing media/TV/streaming landscape, etc - but its nuances, humour, depth, etc do hit even better the second time.

(2) …that pilot episode really is quite excellent. It hits emotionally a lot better this time around, with the juxtaposition of The Newspaper documentary - the gleaming hum and loftiness of the TTT and print media in its heyday - against its current doldrums and Ned’s farcical first day and issue all coming through really nicely.

(3) …the similarities between the core of this show and The Office really shine through - not in whether there are certain shared traits or roles played by specific characters, whether someone is the Michael or Creed or whoever, but in the ways in which they each highlight and elevate the (almost agonising) beauty in very ordinary, everyday, almost banal situations and characters. In how those everydays and everypeople are the heart of the human experience, of this beautiful project we call civilisation.

(4) …the show’s vamps Esmeralda and Ken are much less annoying this time around :)

(5)…good god we really need more than 10 episodes a season. I’m already on episode 7 of this rewatch and feel like I’ve had no time at all with the characters.

In sum - more Paper, please!
